Any one using one? Had mine since last year and still having logistical problems. Trying to row, forward or backward, in a relatively straight line. Haven't figured out the best way to hang onto the pole while rowing. Just have net apron in front and back and zipper pouch on side to hold tackle--keep dropping tackle in the water. Like to have some comments as to how y'all do stuff in your pontoon.

Had a wild thought: Wonder if my big umbrella could function as a sail?

i have one and to be honest i don't row that much, i normally just use my fins. The only time i do row is when its windy and then i still use my fins to keep it going straighter....

The best thing for your rods is to build out of pvc pipe some rod holders, i put mine behind me but its a liitle tough to turn around so i am doing a redo so i can put them on the sides. Also, purchase one of those tube rod holders with the strap so you can strap it to the pontoon infront of you for quick release so to speak.

Tackle, well thats tricky, i luckely found and old tackle box that had removable trays with lids that is exaclty the same size as the pouches..

I pmd you with a website that i got alot of resources from...

Can't gtet the website to load, computer can't find it.

I'm thinking of just attaching a square of marine plywood behind the seat across the tube frame. That will give me something solid to fix a rod holder too.

Do an image search for "KICKBOATS" and you will see photos of customized pontoons....

Just had a better idea. Gonna order a Popiel Pocket fisherman with sotrage for lures hooks sinkers bobbers and worms right in the handle. I can just put the whole kit and kaboodle right there in my pocket and row around without any tnteference.

i bought one and can't wait to try it. i'm in a wheelchair and feel it should open up new avenues for my fishing. i mostly fly fish for bluegill while using red worms under a float. not only do the gills love this bait but the channel cat will take red and wax worms. it's a blast to hook a 3 or 4 pound catfish while using ultralight gear. i want to try some bank poles down at the river. it should be a great time to hook something really big while fishing from a float tube.

Been using mine for a year and like it, but have all the same problems you talk about.

I use the oars and try to adjust my rowing to keep things relatively straight, use short strokes. It does not row like a canoe or kayak.

I tried two poles but finally just stuck on. Sometimes I just stick under my crotch and troll the lure

Sometimes I row into the wind and then let it drift me around

You do need to go to Academy and get one of those small 4 prong
fold up anchors. That will hold you in one place if you are casting.

I like to fish with jug lines but have no place to store them so I made some from the large cat litter plastic jugs. Just attach the line to the handle and get a weight that will fit inside the jug. Just tie the jugs behind or beside the boat and tow them to where you want to place them. Just hope you don't get some monster cart that will drag the jug all over the lake cause it will be dragging you too.

I thought about using the umbrella for a sail but if the wind is strong enough to push you around it will just turn the umbrella wrong side out.

The marine plywood mounted behind the seat is definitely a good
idea. I intend to do that myself.

The last couple of times I have been out I fished with plastic worms. Kept them in a quart size plastic bag along with a small plastic tackle box with hooked, beads, and bullet weights

I keep a few lures in 3 small plastic tackle boxes in the big pouch on the side. Very awkward to work with but have found nothing better yet.

I would really like to continue to communicate with other inflatable pontoon guys. So if yo want to share info please feel free to email or pm me on this forum

All the contact info is in my profile

wind resistant Golf umbrellas are rated to 50 mph winds

I just got the "One arm power paddler" device attaches to paddle to use only 1 arm paddling(bent steel and cushion)

I use an inflatable pontoon and the only way to keep them straight while rowing is to get a fixed rudder of some kind and mount it to the back of the boat about a foot down. I made mine from square aluminum stock from home depot and a 6"x12" piece of plexiglass screwed to the aluminum. I am using u-bolts to mount it to the frame.

It's sitting in the yard with two broken straps right now. Almost had one pontoon come out from under the platform last time out. If I was smart and knew some with a commercial sewing machine that would take on the job of sewing a couple of new nylon straps and buckles I would have it fixed. I think I going to play hillbilly 'toon and tie it on with some cord.
I tried the impossible last time out. Towed some juglines made from cat litter plastic jugs on a windy day with a too short anchor rope. That's a whole lot of fun. Found a place near shore and started catching some nice blue gill then lost my stringer. So I picked up the jugs (even harder chore then putting them out in the wind) and went home.
