In 1984 Bob Sealy created the Big Bass Splash® format for an event benefiting the Ronald McDonald House® and Select Charities on Lake Sam Rayburn, Texas. It quickly became known affectionately as the “McBass” tournament and was so popular that two more were added to the schedule on Lakes Toledo Bend in Louisiana and Fork in Texas. These three are still going strong and now draw from 2,000 to 6,000 anglers per tournament each year! In addition to the tournament, a community festival, the “Block Party” has been added for even more fun and enjoyment throughout the weekend.

The reason it is a "McDonalds" tournie is because a portion of the entries go to the "Ronald McDonald House". Did you read that part, Yank. What does your LOC tournie benefit again?

I think you have absorbed to much mercury from the contaminated fish you have ate. BTW how did those fish get all that mercury in them if the water up there is so pristine?

Sorry for the misunderstanding. I was referring to "people from up north" that do not understand how a tournament really works.

I was wondering what that funny looking boat was doing before daylight. Must have been dropping the bodies in the deep water.

Anyone see a little contradiction? First our NY buddy is promoting paper tournaments - then he says they are not worried about how many fishing die because they are going to die anyway.

Did I miss something?

Definitely see the contradiction, some people like to just get on the forum and stir things up for the fun of it.
Almost everyone knows that almost every bass angler is pretty much concerned about the handling of bass even if we are out fun fishing. It has come a long ways from years past, remember when even the pros brought stringers of bass in on stringers and laid them out on the ground etc. Nowdays because of the way everything has progressed through the years and the education we have received through magazines and television, tournament trails and individuals have done a fantastic job of protecting bass. If Falcon reaps the rewards like Sam Rayburn has for the past 20 years and stays in the great shape like Big Sam has it will be a good resource for many people for years to come and only a few jealous locals will be mad about the wave of humanity that will want to go to Falcon to expierence it's magic waters.
I have heard about and wanted to visit Falcon for the past 10 years or so but never took the actions that I have just this week to actually plan out a time period with buddies to make sure I make it to this lake just to expierence fishing it even if it is not during this time of the year. It has now turned into a special place and nothing BASS and the pros did will ever be anything but beneficial to the area and lake.

Budha we don't troll we fly fish. No lunkers????? Open your mind there is more to fishing than catching warm water lethargic large mouht. In early 1994, a 39-pound lake trout caught at the mouth of the Niagara River established a modern-day Lake Ontario record. These fish are sometimes caught in the Niagara River, but are usually found deeper after spring. At the Niagara River Bar, where river flow drops off into the lake, November anglers can jig and release scores of trophy trout and bass per day.

Steelhead are highly prized here, too. They're especially sought in winter and early spring in the Niagara River. Fresh runs occur at various times and peak at spawning time in April. In spring, there's some early-season near-shore fishing for steelhead, and also limited offshore fishing. A 31-pound 3-ounce state record steelhead was caught here in August of 2004.

Brown trout are mainstays throughout Lake Ontario, especially when they're inshore and shallow. Local fishermen are able to do well on these fish during the summer in the western basin, however, when they are deeper. Browns average several pounds, but it usually takes a 15-pounder to place in the top ten of local contests, and a 20-pounder to win.

What does this have to do with Falcon and what point are you trying to make?

All you boys are hung up with this thing with texas having the best fishing in the country. Bass fishing is what the young boys up here do in the coves and bays before they are old enough and there parents allow them to go out in the main lake. Take a trip to lewiston new york on the lower niagara. If you don't care about trout you can catch 50 to 100 5 pound small mouth on the coast guard station drift.

It's like being interrupted by little kids. You know the saying "Kids should be seen and not heard."

Anyway, Back to the subject.
I wonder how the Bass Guys will rearm and adjust from Falcon to Amistad? (Not to mention healing up from the beating they took!)
I know it took me couple of trips to get back in the small fish groove. Jerked the first couple of fish over the boat.

Just as a general observation...

I've fished all over the continent - from Canada to Mexico, including the Great Lakes. I moved to the Florida Keys for a year to experience what is touted as the Fishing Capital of the World. While I love saltwater species, like tarpon, snook and redfish and offshore species like tuna, billfish, wahoo and dolphin, as far as all aspects of the game coming together, there is none more challenging and technical than bass fishing.

Only people in texas would consider rainbow trout a "rough fish". Fly fishing for trout on the GREAT LAKES is the most pure form of technical fishing there is.

Yeah what ever. Having 109 people fish on an 83,000 lake isn't going to put a dent in that lake.

Go down there and learn about Gill nets. Now that is a problem that kills a lot of fish. Focus on that problem first before throwing a stone in a glass house.

I like to make my way to the metromess area lakes a couple of times a year just to remind myself that SMALL fish do exist.

Falcon has spoiled me.
