there are quite a few spinnerbaits that have been adapted for saltwater use, typically targeting redfish, but I have caught trout on them as well, There is also a crankbait call Manns Baby Minus 1 that has been producing well from what I hear....

Hope this helps

BIL and I caught a lot of reds and trout just below the salt water barrier in Lake Charles using trick worms. We were also catching lots of 1-3 lb. bass too though.

He caught his biggest red on a pink trick worm.

I also have fished and still fish the marsh in Louisiana quite often and have caught reds on spinnerbaits and large bladed Beetle Spins. Gold seems to be the best color for them. I've caught reds, specks, flounder and bass in the same areas using craw worms and also regular bass worms. Topwaters are great also. My favorite in the marsh is a small freshwater Chug Bug. It looks like a small shrimp or mullet popping. On the freshwater model lures you may have to change your hooks out because that saltwater will rust them out.

Good Luck to all!!

The Mann Baby Minus one is a Killer and I have almost every color in triplicates!

Just remember if you are going to use a Bass Spinnerbait to have extras on hands and a pair of pliers, because a 30-50# red can straighten one out very quickly.

Fished Galveston last weekend and IMA jerk baits with long pauses were working the best.

Rat-L-Trap's and such will catch you some nice spanish smacks and the occasional jack when fished off the jetties.

It is not exclusive to inshore species either...I have had kingfish HAMMEr some Bill Dance spinner baits around a Galvston offshore rig...the did tear all 4 of them up...but like they say...if it looks like it swims..they will eat it

on the flip side, most of your spec trout baits will
bass and hybrids in freshwater.
