I fished for an hour there on Sunday around noon and no one was catching anything.

My experience has been, if you fish right in the cut itself sometimes it is just slow. You can wait for hours and not get a hit.
But when it's hot, it's hot.
Quite often the cut is a good place to get bait with a cast net.
I've had pretty good luck fishing the surf.
I like rollover pass, and the surf. You can drive on the beach, fish on the cut, or fish on the bay side.
To me, rollover pass lends itself well to fishing from the bank, more so than Galveston.
I'm from Conroe, when I get some time off, that's usually where I head.

It was good Friday. Lots of Black Drum, Flounder and sheepshead. I caught a a nice red, a couple black drum and a few small trout and sheepshead. Saturday morning was good early, but then nobody was really catching anything. After about noon or one, I only saw two black drums caught. They were good size though.
