http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/publications/annual/fish/legal_devices/

"Only devices and restrictions listed may be used to take aquatic life.

Game fish may be taken only by pole and line (which includes rod and reel), except as otherwise provided in this guide."

I don't see remote controlled boats listed.

Really I think it would be illeagal IF the line was permantly fixed to the boat, like a snagging boat.
With "THE RC POLE" it's the same as a mini downrigger on a RC Boat. The line disconnects when the fish is hooked.
I think its a law against snagging

I'd do it on private waters.

I would in a NEW YORK MINUTE, but it's really hard to launch a product without really deep pockets. That's one reason I'm willing to pay for video's, alot of people like watching them, and it's a good way to get attention.
Have you seen all the other videos on Youtube of RC Fishing?

I'm thinkin' illegal here. Seems like several years ago they were using rc boats to get bait where they wanted it to land big striper below one of the dams in the area. I think it stemmed from protest of that practice?

I used to fish below Lake Livingston Dam and used a 15' surf rod with a 5 oz. balsa wood cork to cast 70 to 100 yrds if I was lucky to get it that far were the fish were...I also thought about trying a RC Boat just to get my line out there, but never was sure how I would rig something on it that I would be confident it would release itself...I would have wanted the bait, being a live or dead shad for catfish or a 5"-6" curly tail worm for Stripers being that is was I used ...To be attached to boat out of water until I got it as close to the rocks by the Dam or where the fish were schooling at the time...I would have never thought it would be illegal that way...But probally not worth he risk,of losing an expensive RC boat being there was always a lot of snags and old fishing line hung up out there already...So I think if your were to use it just to deploy bait attached to a rod and reel...This is not a bad idea...But to troll with RC boat with bait or lure in water to hook fish first then to release after would be illegal, or should be in (Public Waters)..Just my 2 cents...lol

In fresh water, it is unlawful:
to take game fish and nongame fish from Community Fishing Lakes, sections of rivers lying totally within boundaries of a state park, the North Concho River from O.C. Fisher dam to the Bell Street dam, the South Concho River from Lone Wolf dam to Bell Street dam, and Lake Pflugerville with any other gear besides pole and line.
to take fish with a (..hand operated device..) held underwater except that a spear or speargun may be used to take NONGAME fish.

So would this be legal in Salt Water???
But I guess a Sail line is not hand operated....It's (..wind operated..)...lol

i think he's right, as long as the boat is used to deploy the bait, and not land the fish, it should be legal.

Well they won't let you use the boat around the dam because of the potential of a detonation device. They're afraid you will try and blow up the dam.
