I could see that. For $20 it would be a cheap detonation device.

I think it would be illegal IF: the fishing line is FIXED to the RC Boat,(as in SNAGGING), but in the case of "THE RC FISHING POLE" the line disconnects when a fish hits/is hooked.

Your not too far off on this Cameron. These days, anything that can carry a payload and be controlled to a destination is under fire by our government. I currently have to be registered with the local police department and fire marshall for the chemicals that I have in my garage. I am also required to have an LEUP (Low Explosives User Permit) for the production and transportation of the rocket fuel I produce in my garage for my hobby. It is getting to the point where there will be regulation for everything we do.

You may ask "what the heck am I making rocket fuel for" well.....

Sorry for the temporary high jack of the thread..

Okay, if it's illegal, I hope that blaming my 4 year-old son will get me off the hook. We were at my dad's farm last summer messing around and doing some fishing one of the stock tanks. My brother showed up with one of those R.C. boats as a gift for my son. After watching him run it around the tank for a few minutes, I got inspired.

I attached about 6' of mono to the "Ski Bar" and an old Lucky 13 I had in the bottom of my tackle box then handed him the control. Within less than a minute, the boat seemed to slam on the brakes and then continued on, apparently missing a strike. Then, as he was bringing the boat back near the dock, it stopped again and immediately shot into reverse!

In a flash, the boat was going under. I grabbed the remote and attempted to "pull" the fish closer to the bank. No dice. The boat gained a little more rearward momentum and went under with a gurgle and a piercing scream from my son.

A couple seconds later, while were trying to calm my son and figure out how we were going to get it back, the boat pops up in the clasic "capsised" position in the middle of the lake, so I dove in and retrieved it...at my son's explicit request.

The lessons learned:
An R.C. boat hasn't got the power to pull a hooked bass to shore.
They really aren't that stable when being pulled in reverse.
They sink really quickly.
Kids don't like seeing their brand new toys sink.

So, yeah. It's been done, though not very well. Oh, and I can't try it again because my son won't let me play with any more of his toys.

Great story!, You could have attached the fishing line w/a peice of tape,(using rod and reel), it would disconnect when the fish hit, then reel it in.
Here's a video of a guy "CATCHING A MARLIN WITH A JET-SKI" ,(bottom of page).
But, now you can buy RC Fishing tackle/boats...you use your boat, and it attaches to any RC Boat so you can use it to fish, "THE RC FISHING POLE" For real fishing. Or there is another one, but the boat sinks if you hook a big one,(toy) "AVIVA BUDDY"

I have thought of buying one of these toys for my girls. Looks like it could be tons of fun.
