I will be going to rockport the last weekend in April, and I am looking for any advice. This will be my first time taking the boat or any boat for that matter to the bay. What is the most important to look for as far as sandbars, tides, ets. Furthermore any fishing advice for this area? I will be staying right off copano bay however, if it is "safer" to drive up to port a or somewhere else, I am open.

thanks

Go slow. In my opinion, there are a lot more obstructions up by Copano. Your best bet for a first time might be to Launch at Macport Marina or Conn Brown in Aransas Pass. There are less rocky areas and plenty of good fishing spots down there. I would buy the
Hook n Line map available almost everywhere. Great information on fishing and helpful with navigation. Just remember to take it slow, and you will be fine.
