I've got a Triton bay boat that came equiped with only two rod holders in the very back. I bottom fish jettys and drift fish nearshore quite a bit usually with several people in the boat. People get tired, need a soda, sunscreen, etc, and end up setting thier rod down. Lets just say I've heard ka-splash a few times.

I would like to add more rod holders. Does anyone make a heavy duty detachable rod holder that mounts reasonably clean? I would like something that I wouldn't have to worry about getting ripped of the side of the boat if someone sets the drag on the Penn to tight. Maybe stainless??

The only thing I've found that looks like it can be mounted to my boat are the plastic Attwood holders. Does anyone have experience with those?

Sharc here on the forum uses the Cabela's Quickdraw holders. He fishes for big uglys and bulls at the POC jettys. That's the only rod holder he'll buy. You might send him a pm.

Bee Readys are small (out of the way, non obtrusive) and stainless.

A Draper, I do use the quickdraws from Cabelas but not sure if they are strong enough for the type of fishing you do. I go to Port O and fish the same way and the rodholders are adequate but it really depends on the weights you are using and the size of the equipment. Good Luck!!

Sharc, do you have any trouble with boat rods fitting into the holders. That seems to be the only negative point I could dig up online. Otherwise, I bet they would work fine, sounds like we fish for the same stuff.

FYI...I fished outside the POC jetty this past saturday bout half a day. Inside was filled with weeds but the water looked great. I really wanted to fish inside but you couldn't keep a line out. We ended up of 4 bull reds between 35 and 42" and two sharks about 4'long. Ended up releasing all the big stuff. Everything else was slow. A few sheephead, puppy drum, and whiting were around.

Yeppers that is an issue, it just depends on your gear. I have pics of the ones on my boat. Sorry, I don't have any close ups right now. I also have issues with mine spinning on the rail but not too bad. I really like them.
