I have seen gators on Hubbard but I dont believe you walked up on a 10fter. I bet there are 100 people that fish that creek a day and your the only one to see it. Thats on a week day during the run. On the weekend I bet there is a few hundred fishing it on the weekend.

No gators in north Texas huh?? So all the folks that see them on Hubbard and Little Caney Bay on Fork must be smoking something.

I have even jumped on a few smaller ones in my younger and dumber days. I have lived here in Texas for a year and a half and have NEVER seen a gator. I have heard of them being around every now and then but the water around here just gets too cold for them to survive.
If North Texas is too cold how do they survive in TN lakes and rivers???? Reelfoot lake TN. can freeze over during very cold winters but yet they have a breeding pop.

Dave, you need to go down off Bilindsay Rd, near Belt Line Rd, off Parson Slough in the Seagoville area. LOTS of gators, native to this area, and they are protected!

In fact, if you accidentally kill one, like hit it with your car, you are liable!

It is a preserve area, and brother they are there!

When i was a kid, my dad and i used to fish Parson Slough, as well as gravel slough near Ferris, and gators were not that big a deal.

Parson Slough in parts, is as close to a Louisiana style bayou as you are ever likely to see in this part of the world, complete with Spanish moss decking the tree branches over the water.

Have seen them there in the dead of the Dog Days of summer, getting a tan, mouths wide open, and just looking like something out of Jurassic Park!

Oh, and by the way, back then Parson Slough used to have some HUGE black bass and some of the fattest slab black crappie this side of CC!

There is indeed an "alligator and water moccasin wildlife preserve" in southeast Dallas County on Bilindsay Rd. at Beltline. It is very hard to spot them, but you can see alligators there. In the more wild parts of the Trinity nearby, I have seen a few small ones in the last 25 years. I have seen an 8 footer in person from a canoe and nearly soiled myself. It was pointed out to me by someone much more familiar with the river; I would have paddled right over it. I saw one alligator in Rowlett Creek this year, about a mile south of Miller road. It was under 3 feet.
Any aggressive alligators should be reported to a game warden.

This was a cute joke, but not alot of effort put into it. You failed to really set the hook. Better luck next year. Use this as a guide.

Well there might be a gator here or there but no where near what I am used to. Dallas is pretty much on the border of the area where gators are. That means that there are VERY few of them in our area. If you see one you should consider yourself lucky. I know when I swim in lake lewisville or any of the other lakes around here I am not worried about gators.

And according to this chart on wikipedia there are no gators in Tennesse or Dallas. But you always have the stragler that may have snuck north. Or maybe someone releases one in one of our lakes.

I'll take that bet!

Gators have been reported,(and confirmed by TPWD) in just about every area lake and stream including Lake Caroline in Las Colinas.
My wife used to live off Dowdy Ferry rd SE of Dallas and there was a huge one down there killing livestock and pets. After it was shot, they had it mounted and on display at the Museum of Natural History in Fair Park. Don't know if it's still there or not.

Now if I lived in Florida, the odds might be differant.

In florida it isnt uncommon to see an alligator crossing the street in a residential neighborhood. There are ponds in EVERY neighborhood in Florida and EVERY body of water there has gators. I have even seen a gator in saltwater. I'll take your word for it that they have them here but I havent seen one yet.

If you think there are not gators on Lewisville, CC, Hubbard, Ray Roberts then you are a arse hat. I have seen them with my own eyes. When they would find them in White Rock they TP&W would relocate them and some went to CC and it was on the news. I will take that bet also on a better chance of lightning striking you before seeing a gator on N Texas lakes. I see a gator on Lewisville might be the same one atleast once a week for the past 3 weeks now.

I was bank fishing in Lake Dallas near the Arrowhead Ramp and saw a small one. I got pretty close and then he swam off into the lake. I told a few people and no one believed me, but I could careless.

They have several troublesome gators even as far west as eagle mountain. You'll hear about them on the news now and then.

Well I guess I better not go out in the rain then. I saw one that was about 5' or so on LL last Summer. Got to within 50 feet or so of it before I realized it wasn't a tree.
