FYI, White Lake is good, but be careful going out there.... stay off the east side, the guy that lives close to the lake gets PO'd when people walk thru his yard. My buddy lives down the street and we fished out there alot, but he got a warning from the police last time he was out there. I suspect that they are cracking down during the summer months to keep all the kids off it during the summer break. Every person that I've ever heard getting in trouble there has always been in the summer.

What kind of warning did he get from the police? Is it illegal to fish there?

This was one of my favorite spots during the early summer (June and July). The last time there was late July. The cops pulled up and told me that I was not allowed to fish there. I told them that I had been fishing there for a while. He told me that a city councilman lives in the area and had the lake closed to the public. He calls the police whenever he sees people fishing. Now that someone has driven a car into the lake, I don't expect to be able to fish there again. This sucks because this was a really good spot.

I really hate to hear it's now closed to the public. I fished this little lake a lot in spring and early summer. It's about 15 min. from my house.
I guess I'll have to cross it off my list, although I may give it one more try just to see what happens.

Went by this pond yesterday and it looks like the city has dirt burms in place to keep people out. No entrance off of Oakland any longer unless you walk in. I believe the burms send a strong message.

That's a real shame. This has been a nice place to fish for a long time. I would sure be interested to know why they decided to close it off after all these years.

Has anyone tried to fish this pond called "White Lake" off Oakland recently? Has anything changed as far as accessibility goes?

I fished that little lake many years ago as a kid. The lake was then owned by a dairy across the road and there was literally nothing else in the area but pasture land. I caught many nice size bass from that little body of water - nice to know that's it's still there and producing fish.

Thanks guys. Me and my father in law will be in that area today and may stop and try to catch some bass at French. We're not from the area so we won't abuse the honey hole. 😁

Years ago at an army surplus store I bought a pair of snake leggings.
They tie around your legs protecting it.
They are a mesh that you test by trying to stab it with a knife.
I forgot what I paid for them. It was when Reagan was president.
But they work.
