At I35 and Highland Village Rd. (Just S. of the bridge over Lake Lewisville) is a small lake, about 10 acres or so. It has been there for many years and looks quite fishy. Copperas Branch lake. http://maps.google.com/maps?ie=UTF8&oe=I....01236&t=h&z=16

It's a park and is open to the public. I think it would be fun to fish it on a Sunday afternoon soon as a group. Open to all TFF or anyone else, from Tubes, Water wagons, bank walkers, whatever. No big boats are allowed. I'm sure we could get some small prizes donated. Would be fun and a good place to bring your kids if you want. (also a good way to find out if it's a good spot to fish)

What do you think?

Ernest,
Great idea! And typical of the spirit of the TFF at its best, in my opinion. I've long been impressed with the openness and unselfish character of many who post here.
Wish I could join you, but I have to work Sundays.
Just wanted to send an atta-boy!

This does sound like a great idea and I'd be
interested depending of course on date.
Weekends can be busy times for us, as I'm
sure they are for alot of others.

I hate snakes, and don't care for anything that crawl and can bite you. Sound like fun though, should set this up like a small tourney for multiple species. That will bring in a lot donation and lots of family member can also have picnic up there while fishing for prices.

Set up the date and we will bring float-tube and fishing pole(s)

PK, I agree with you there. I thought they were talking about all of use getting together to fish and shoot the bull. Maybe had a little cookout if we wanted. Especially since they brought up the idea about bring kids there also.

Not a tournament, just for fun and I did mention donated prizes for biggest fish but that was just and idea. No one donated anything anyway. Still working on it, May go soon.

Sounds fun to me! Thank you Ernest for the idea. I've got a "new to me" bass buster type boat and this would be a great opportunity to come out and learn from the best! I have a friend with a kayak, and know she would come as well.

Looking at the map it looked like we could get ther from the south end. or is the map so old that the streets are now gone. You got me curious now. There is also a nice area over by and just north of the Dallas lake dam that has some good catfishing and plenty of spaces where we could all meet at and fish. and evwen have a cook out. Plus, there is a boat ramp in case anyone wanted to bring a boat also. But that is just a thought for a possable plan B. lol

getreal, It sorta looks like the whole thing has fizzled out somewhat. Doesn't appear to be very many people interested in it. But thought it was a good idea as it wouldn't cost no tank full of gas to get there for alot of the DFW area fishermen anyway.

I'm still interested. How about next Sunday May 4. We can access the lake at either the north end parking area or the little park on the South end.

When do you want to go, AM, PM or both?

I will post a map with directions later today.

I would like to go if it were more local for me. I hate DFW traffic though. So if it is east of there I could come. There doesn't seem to be as many from my area, as DFW's area though in this forum.

See map link at beginning of this thread. Take 35E north to Garden ridge exit, cross over to west side and go north on west side service rd. (it's two way there) Lake will be on your left. Parking at north end of lake on Highland Village Rd..

Well I was there along with a few other TFF folks. Saw Fishin Rod and Ddub. There were several small boats out that I never got close enough to talk too.

Nice little lake. I caught 5 nice Crappie and a few dinks.

David had three when I last talked to him. Probably caught some more. I left around 1:00 PM.

All mine came slow trolling a road runner in 6'-10' water. That's an easy way to fish a new pond in a tube. Just slowly kick backwards and hold your rod to the side. Should of taken two rods to get more baits in the water.

Anyway it was fun and the pond is worth fishing. Never saw a snake.
