The truth is that Ray Hubbard has had Alligators off and on for years. Very possible.

That doesnt look like a gator in that video. When they are swimming you do not see that much of the body. I lived in Florida for 14 years and know gators very well. I have even jumped on a few smaller ones in my younger and dumber days. I have lived here in Texas for a year and a half and have NEVER seen a gator. I have heard of them being around every now and then but the water around here just gets too cold for them to survive.

I haven't seen any gators at rowlett creek, but on the way to the creek I stopped at the Terrell Wal Mart to buy some lures and saw some sweathogs and water buffaloes.

The American Alligator was native to this area until all the dams and reservoirs came about and stopped them from coming up river. The Paddle fish was also affected. Both are still around in lakes and rivers along with the side creeks. I have personaly gathered eggs from a nest at Lewisville with TP&W.

Possible but reporting it on April 1 was only going to raise my suspicion.

I used to jetski a lot in florida and I had a buddy that had an airboat. We used to go down the St Johns river just about every weekend. Some parts of the river you just know not to swim in. Especially during the week when there werent many boats out. But we still used to wake board and swim in the water. Most of the time the gaotrs are scared of loud noise and will stay away from people and boats. I am not scared of one until it gets to about 8 feet long. Anything smaller I am pretty confident I could handle if we got into it.

I have seen gators on Hubbard but I dont believe you walked up on a 10fter. I bet there are 100 people that fish that creek a day and your the only one to see it. Thats on a week day during the run. On the weekend I bet there is a few hundred fishing it on the weekend.

Reelfoot lake TN. can freeze over during very cold winters but yet they have a breeding pop.

Dave, you need to go down off Bilindsay Rd, near Belt Line Rd, off Parson Slough in the Seagoville area. LOTS of gators, native to this area, and they are protected!
In fact, if you accidentally kill one, like hit it with your car, you are liable!
It is a preserve area, and brother they are there!
When i was a kid, my dad and i used to fish Parson Slough, as well as gravel slough near Ferris, and gators were not that big a deal.
Parson Slough in parts, is as close to a Louisiana style bayou as you are ever likely to see in this part of the world, complete with Spanish moss decking the tree branches over the water.
Have seen them there in the dead of the Dog Days of summer, getting a tan, mouths wide open, and just looking like something out of Jurassic Park!
Oh, and by the way, back then Parson Slough used to have some HUGE black bass and some of the fattest slab black crappie this side of CC!

There is indeed an "alligator and water moccasin wildlife preserve" in southeast Dallas County on Bilindsay Rd. at Beltline. It is very hard to spot them, but you can see alligators there. In the more wild parts of the Trinity nearby, I have seen a few small ones in the last 25 years. I have seen an 8 footer in person from a canoe and nearly soiled myself. It was pointed out to me by someone much more familiar with the river; I would have paddled right over it. I saw one alligator in Rowlett Creek this year, about a mile south of Miller road. It was under 3 feet. Any aggressive alligators should be reported to a game warden. This was a cute joke, but not alot of effort put into it. You failed to really set the hook. Better luck next year. Use this as a guide.

Well there might be a gator here or there but no where near what I am used to. Dallas is pretty much on the border of the area where gators are. That means that there are VERY few of them in our area. If you see one you should consider yourself lucky. I know when I swim in lake lewisville or any of the other lakes around here I am not worried about gators. And according to this chart on wikipedia there are no gators in Tennesse or Dallas. But you always have the stragler that may have snuck north. Or maybe someone releases one in one of our lakes.

You have a better chance of getting hit by lightning than you do seeing an alligator in North Texas.
I'll take that bet! Gators have been reported,(and confirmed by TPWD) in just about every area lake and stream including Lake Caroline in Las Colinas. My wife used to live off Dowdy Ferry rd SE of Dallas and there was a huge one down there killing livestock and pets. After it was shot, they had it mounted and on display at the Museum of Natural History in Fair Park. Don't know if it's still there or not. Now if I lived in Florida, the odds might be differant.

In florida it isnt uncommon to see an alligator crossing the street in a residential neighborhood. There are ponds in EVERY neighborhood in Florida and EVERY body of water there has gators. I have even seen a gator in saltwater. I'll take your word for it that they have them here but I havent seen one yet.

If you think there are not gators on Lewisville, CC, Hubbard, Ray Roberts then you are a arse hat. I have seen them with my own eyes. When they would find them in White Rock they TP&W would relocate them and some went to CC and it was on the news. I will take that bet also on a better chance of lightning striking you before seeing a gator on N Texas lakes. I see a gator on Lewisville might be the same one atleast once a week for the past 3 weeks now.

I was bank fishing in Lake Dallas near the Arrowhead Ramp and saw a small one. I got pretty close and then he swam off into the lake. I told a few people and no one believed me, but I could careless.

I have seen a gator at fork last year, water to cold my you know what!!! they are out there!!!
Mavs You have a better chance of getting hit by lightning than you do seeing an alligator in North Texas. Well I guess I better not go out in the rain then. I saw one that was about 5' or so on LL last Summer. Got to within 50 feet or so of it before I realized it wasn't a tree.

Sounds like a friend of mine from Jacksonville, Fl anything you say about Texas or especially the D/FW area. Flordia does it 10 times better or 10 percent bigger.

Well they might not be native, but there are people that do have them as pets and them let them go once they get to big. This has happend in White Rock Lake a few times.
Just like paranas, I have seen some pics of paranas caught in WRL as well

I live in Spring, TX, and took my kayak out for the first time last Saturday. Went to pond nestled back in the woods about 5 minutes from my house. Looked like a great place to do a little bass fishing. Ran into at least 4 or 5 different alligators, and one was as big as my kayak. It was spooky, but I stayed and fished. I guess with a name like Alligator Pond you could expect to run into a few.

there was a news story on a huge gator seen in CHandlers landing a couple years ago, and the one on Lewisville what was found dead tied to a stump. from what I have heard, the one(s) on hubbard are not in rowlette creek, but one arm over past the 66 bridge. plenty of hogs and nutrias for them to eat. I dont think I will ever see one on hubbard because I am too noisy. Tawakoni: old timers will talk about walking the flats to find ditches for thier trotlines, and stepping on turtles and alligators.... my understanding is they lay on the bottom until darkness falls. take your spotlight at night and shine it across the flats and look for yellow eyes
