South Region of Texas Bass Couples will be hosting their third tourney of the season on Lake Amistad March 16. Looks like the fishing is really turning on. Two over 13 this past weekend. WOW!!! We welcome any newcomers to come join us. Registration will be at Amistad Lake Resort with Border Buttermilk (sponsored by the Del Rio Chamber Of Commerce)and finger foods. It will be from 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm on Saturday. Live well checks will be at Anglers Lodge from 6:30 am to 7:00 am on Sunday. Dianne will have plenty of Burrito's to kick start your morning. Don't forget to pick up those last minute baits at the tackle store. There's been alot of praise sent their way on this forum and I have to say it is well deserved. Angler's Lodge has been super accomidating and supportive of the Texas Bass Couples. Lannie and I couldn't do this without folks like this.

we're planning to spend most of next week on Amistad - neither of us ever been on the lake but excited to check it out. Any first timmer suggestions?? (after Sunday, of course!)

We are planning on going down sometime during the Easter weekend and this is what I think we are going to try: right now there are plenty of places to sight fish on the lake. If you'll hit the back of coves you should see bedding fish and if the smaller bucks are all you see come back out to the first 20 to 25 ft water in the mouth of the cove and the bigger bass should be stacked there. Wacky style senkos should be the lure to throw for the bedding fish (personally I like watermelon red flake with the tail died chartruse) and for the deeper fish throw the same only Texas rig it. I also like to fish with baby brush hogs of the same color combo Texas rigged. There are several ramps to choose from to put in at so watch the weather and wind and plan on having a great time! Amistad is most definately one of the best lakes in the country. You will be amazed at the clarity of the water. Hope this helps! Let me know how your trip went. Good Luck and Happy Easter!!!

Spent Wed. the 19th through Sun. the 23rd on Amistad. Had a GREAT time. What a fishery!!! The water is sooooo clear and so much cover. WE netted over 100 bass over 15" and one smallie the last day at about 3lbs. Mostly caught on watermelon finesse.
Did get a nice one on crank bait but the majority were only receptive to finesse.
