The 2008 schedule has been posted on our website (in my signature), and there is a current discussion regarding a rule change to allow other size boats to participate. All of those who are interested in fishing the trail should go check it out and put your 2 cents in. the first tournament will be 1-26-07 at lake hawkins.

Read the previews of the messages on your website and it seems like for trolling motor powered boats. That would put the people powered boats at a great disadvantage. The tubers, inflatable pontoons, paddle powered kayaks can't cover the amount of water that a powered boat can. Do you have a division for non motorized boats? Another disadvantage of the people powered boats is getting to weigh in on time. Just a thought.
I have a small inflatable pontoon (8') oars only. Is there actually a live well that can be used on a puddle jumper like mine? I only have 50# weight to play with before I'm over loaded.

grandpa,

If you look on their site there are some pictures of floating live wells the guys made - pretty cool.
I am a float tuber now and thought many of the same things - guess we people powered craft will have to stay closer to the weigh in area!

Maybe the slowpokes could just hang around the weigh in area and get lucky after some of the fish are put back in the water.

hey guys,

we are discussing changing to electric power only. this past year, we allowed gas powered motors at idle speed only. this rule change could help level theplaying field. hope that you will consider fishing with us this year grandpa.

I might be interested in participating in this. I have a Water Wagon (old styrofoam) boat, but I have a 2.5hp outboard to push it. I could use an electric motor, but would prefer not to have to do that. It doesn't go any faster that an electric motor could push it.

Are all the lakes 2 hours from the metroplex? Batt or foot powered only! Gas boys can go fish the gas boats!

the lakes are spread between west, east, and central texas, hince texas small waters. we are by no means a DFW based trail, although we fish a few dfw area lakes such as cleburne and mineral wells state parks.

That would be cool if they had a few divisions for motorized boats. I have a 14ft jon boat with a gas motor that goes about 15mph. Its no bass boat but I can understand the tube and yak fishermen stating a disadvantage. Cant bar-b-que while you fish on a tube! Just kidding-
