Just a heads up for any anglers visiting the South Llano River near Junction: keep eyes out for Guadalupe bass with antennae extending from their ventral. I currently have a radio telemetry project assessing microhabitat associations, home range size and seasonal movement of Guadalupe bass in that area.
I bring this to your attention for two reasons:
One: water temperatures and day length are increasing and Guadalupe bass are becoming increasingly active, moving longer distances. Thus, angler encounter probability is increasing and I would like to keep my tagged fish from being unintentionally harvested.
Two: this increased movement means it will soon be prime fishing on the South Llano River; just toss back the ones with antennae if you would please, Guadalupe bass fishing will ultimately improve if you do.
