Well I have always been pretty particular about my BBQ but today I tried a new unknown spot for lunch. I am working a 2 week temp subsitution job and needed a bbq fix. Ordered a chopped beef sandwich and knew I was in trouble when the counter gal dips into a crockpot and dumps this trash of a meat on a bun. BLEEEECH!!!

Worst is Kreuz in Lockhart. Best is Luling City Market in Luling, then Black's in Lockhart.

Tried Dicky's BBQ, here in San Antonio. This has got to be the most god awful bbq. This place just open a few months ago here. I don't believe it will last. The brisket taste has if it were boiled in water., it had zero flavor. STAY AWAY FROM DICKY'S IN SAN ANTONIO

Say what you want to say but I still stand by that Underwoods in Brownwood should never be allowed to have BBQ in their logo.

Actually, soaking the brisket in water is apparently a common practice. The butcher at a meat market tried to convince me to try it. After smoking a brisket for several hours I just couldn't bring myself to put it in a pan of water, cover it and bake it in the oven for a while.

I agree Dickey's is over rated and over priced.

It's pressure cooked then smothered with sauce.

Unfortunatly it is hard to find some low-n-slow BBQ at the BBQ joints nowadays. Most of it is cooked using other methods because of time restraints.

When the Rib Crib opened in Tulsa in the 90's - it was great! They had this spicy blueberry BBQ sauce that was delicious. Last time I ate there - well, unfortunately things are not the same.

The one (and only) time I ate at Angelo's in Fort Worth - major disappointment! I had sliced brisket and what was given to me was a huge plate of fat. I probably should have not volunteered to be the designated driver - everyone else seemed to enjoy the food - errr...the beer!

Hard 8 BBQ in Stphenville. half the time the staff is drunk and the BBQ is like chewing on a tire. Coppell nothing to write home about either.

This thread proves that two people can walk into the same BBQ joint and one can come out saying it was the best ever, the other might say it's the worst ever. (It's the same thing with Tex-Mex food) One thing I've found about Texas BBQ in the last 45 years is that nobody smokes a great brisket 100% of the time. Even the legendary spots crank out a dry brisket occasionally. That's why I generally stay away from brisket and tend to go with the pork ribs and sausage.

For me, Dickey's BBQ was hands down the lousiest I've had.

Sonny Bryan's stays open solely on it's past reputation - the BBQ isn't close to what it was before the old man died.

Maybe I was expecting a bit too much but I wasn't all that impressed with Kruez Mkt. The sausage was average, the shoulder clod was dry, and tasted oversmoked. Wasn't bad, just didn't live up to the hype.

I feel the Salt Lick is overrated as well. Decent prices, beautiful setting, but the BBQ was pretty average.

Angelo's has great ribs and ice cold schooners of beer but the brisket is consistently inconsistent. It's usually too dry or too fatty, they just can't seem to find that happy medium. You'd think after 50 years they could figure it out.

My favorites are the Railhead in Aledo or Ft. Worth, and Cooper's BBQ in Llano.

Worst is Bill Millers!
Best is R.O. Outpost on 71 in Spicewood, they smoke their briskets for 2 days! I do like Salt lick, they have a very different flavor.
