Hi,
I am not much of a fisher, but my husband loves to fish. We moved to DFW close to two years ago, but he has yet to find a social life involving friends and fishing. He loves to go bass fishing - he will fish from a boat or the shore.
I don't know how to go about getting him involved, but I figured this was worth a try. Are there any other fishermen in this area who are interested in a new "buddy"? I would love to put him in touch with someone who has the same hobbies he does.

some guys like the peace and quite of fishing alone. it keeps us sane in this wild world. You might ask him first if he wants fishing buddies... AND if he does... find a local bass club, and yall both go to the meetings and have fun! fishing aint all about men! my wife outfishes me everytime we go... \:\(

No, I had not previously told him I was posting, although I was going to show him the post when I saw him again (probably tomorrow) if there was decent feedback and encourage him to post.

He doesn't go much because he *doesn't* have friends to go with. That's always his excuse - "I don't know anyone to go with."

So if a club will be more welcoming to him, how do I know where to send him? What do you look for in a "fishing club"? I don't know anything about it, but I don't want to send him somewhere that he will not fit in or have a good time.

I was looking at clubs before I posted here, but there are quite a few in the area, and I have no idea what I'm looking for. Do you have suggestions?

not having any friends to go with is a common thing when fishing... i usually fish alone its easier that way. if you dont learn to fish alone then dont plan on spending alotta time on the water. what area?

We are in Fort Worth, I will have to show him this forum and get him in touch with some of you. Looks like quite a few of you are nearby. Yay!
Unfortunately he is already in bed tonight (I just got home), and we have flipped schedules, so it may be a day or two before we really get a chance to see each other again.
Thanks everyone for your responses.

My wife showed me this site today and told me she had posted trying to find me a fishing buddy. I am an avid bass fisherman and have been bass fishing since I was a kid. I am originally from East Texas and grew up fishing Sam Rayburn, Toledo Bend, and Nacogdoches. Since we have moved up here to south Fort Worth though I don't really get to go much anymore because I don't have a boat and I don't really know the lakes very well up here in order to try and catch some bass off the bank. I don't have a lot of money because I am trying to put my wife through law school right now so helping with expenses would be tough for me but I am willing to wash your truck or boat in return for a chance to go fishing sometime.
