I got a '92 Cajun with a Johnson 115 V4... I've been having trouble getting it to idle until the other day.
I finally got it idling, but when i would put it in gear it would die. After about 10 tries I finally got it in gear and running. I drove it for about 10 minutes, it drove great and the engine sounded good.
I then shut it off, and I couldn't get it to start again, I had to troll all the way back to the dock.

What do ya'll think is the cause of this?

Did you try to start it again later?
Done any maintenance to it recently?
It ran good before the other day? No other symptoms at all?
Will it start now?

First, compression test.
Second, spark test. Set your tester (couple bucks at car parts store) at 7/16" and look for a sharp blue spark.

I'll try and start it again, when I get home today.
I just put in new plugs.
That was the first time I got it to run (in gear)

Don't know compression.
and I haven't done a spark test.
I'll try to get em both taken care of.

Thanks

Can you push in the choke while accelerating to overcome the problem? Dirty carbs or crud in the gas is my vote. At least that is a place to start.
