Ladies, i need help finding my wife fishing gear.
I am going to get some combos for my wife since she has finally decided to start tourny fishing with me. I am looking for a spinning combo that is stout enuff for catfish ( since we r gonna fish the cat tournys)
I do not know if i need to go ahead and get top of the line or get kinda "newbie" stuff since she has not fished alot before.
Let me know what kind of gear you would suggest, she is a small woman (5'0" 95lbs) i dont know if that helps?
Thanks in advance for your input.

At academy they have a pfluger combo for girls with a 7ft rod and a lady trison reel. It also happens to be pink. My wife has one and it's a perfect catfish rod. The combo is $69

I have to say I with Brian I have a pfluger combo myself. It's not the pink one, but I believe it's reasonably priced and stout enough. I'm not a very big person myself. And I have pulled a largemouth about 6lbs out of 30 foot water with mine.

You never said what your price range was. That would make a big difference in what I would recommend.

A lot of people seem to like the President reel from Pfluegger. I am not sure about the exact price. I like an Abu Garcia combo. They have some you can afford.

That one is ten bucks more, but well worth it I would think. The Abu Garcia 503ALB is a classic. Their Cardinal reels from 300 and up should be top notch for the price. I have not seen the newest spinning reel....for some reason BPS has not had it in at their store. I only looked at Cabelas for that particular reel. See them and see what you think. They are made in China, that is a drawback for me. But still I think it is nice reel....
I prefer to see a rod and reel in person before plunking down money, if at all possible.
