Man it was crazy spur of the moment my sister asked me if we could go fishing today of course loveing fishing to death decided to take her out. Decided to go to Josey Ranch park and wet a line for 2hours.

We get set up chum up the area and were getting settled in when I said hey sis let me show you how to net the fish. (incase we were to get anything that day) While explaining how to net a fish to my sister I look back at our lines and see my one rod starting to bend and shortly after start screaming as line is pouring off the real. I click the reel of of free spool at the end of the fishes run and hand it off to my sister, who was still shocked to hear the reel screaming like it did. She started to fight the fish and was bringing it in beautifly ofcourse with a little help from yours truly, having to take the rod and weave it in and out of all the other lines set out that day. But finally she brigns it to the surface and up by the dock , where it yet again makes a couple more drag pulling runs and finally tires himself out enough to net him. My sister was sooo excited about the fish and was soo thrilled, especially since it was her first carp ever to catch. What a day to FORGET THE CAMERA, yes I happened to make the mistake of forgetting my camara at home but got some great pics of the fish with my phone.

The rest of the day we caught a couple more commons around 4-6 pounds and even my dad came out for a bit and caught one which was nice.
Over all it was a great trip and definitely a fun one. Boy yall should have seen my face when we pulled a mirror carp out of there, and better yet congratulating my sister on the great job of catching her first carp.

yep that is the old school mira pit...i caught my first ever mira our there...you should try the large pond near the senior center fish the bank closest to josey over where the bank meets the concrete fish about 15-20 feet off the bank...bring your camara

I've fished that pond many times hoping for another mirror, and haven't yet seen one. Seen plenty of commons up to maybe 14lbs.

Zach, I keep meaning to hit that spot, will have to do it one of these days before the weeds get too bad.

Never fished the newer pond but once or twice for perch (is that the one you are talking about LoneStar?) but I have fished the old one and pulled everything from perch, perch sized carp, trout, and 10#+ carp and cats. The fishing was amazing when the lowered the water a couple summers back, you could sight cast to big fish and see the structure down there. I know a secret half or a 55 gal drum down there for kitties....

I think we have reason to believe Caney Creek is completely devoid of carp... lolol....
