Decided to take the kiddos out today while they are off for Spring Break. Looked like terrible weather coming in this afternoon so we hit the water just after 9am for a quick trip. Found birds working in open water South of I30 as soon as we got out. Fished for about 2 hours and caught fish nearly non-stop. We ended up with 21 sandies and 6 hybrid. All the hybrid were right at 18", nothing really big today, our best was about a four pounder. The fishing has been great the last week or two and seems to get better everyday. We didn't keep any today, just enjoyed watching the kids have fun. I've got some great deck hands! The wind finally got too rough for the kids to be in about 11 so we came in with the birds still working heavy. Saw a couple fellow TFFers out there today, we all skinned out when the wind really hit, but everyone was catching fish and having a good time! All fish were caught on sassy shad, I went up to a 1 1/4oz jig head on my baits and have been trying to keep the bait down close to the bottom. Most of the fish are sandies, but if you keep your bait down and try not to set the hook on the soft taps, there have been some better fish underneath the schools.

Heres a bad graph pic with a glare, but it looked like this the whole time we fished!

fishing has been good lately.when you are fishing directly under the birds the hybs are holding less than five feet under the surface. They won't hit a top water yet but they will wear out a sassy.Sunday was over 50 hybs ,with a couple 8#ers,just a few sandies.Sat well over a 100 sandies but no hybs at RP.

Harbor Bay Marina is right off I30 behind Snuffers, tke the Horizon rd exit at the end of the bridge, turn left at the light and go till it dead ends at the gated entry of the condos - turn left and it goes down to the marina. Launch is kinda expensive, but it is a nice , well protected marina with a good dock to tie up to.

They will not sell a yearly pass so I had to move to Chandlers. I have a portable cleaning station. Harbor Bay went up to 12 bucks to launch a boat... that is just stupid money right there.

Hey Matt, Was glad to see you had the kids out and were catching fish! That morning I only caught 1 hybrid and the rest were Sandies. I did make it back out that evening--for about a hour. 6 to 7 still lots of Sandies and just befrore dark the hybrids started hitting the surface so I thru a top water out and had lots of hits but hooked up one time for the only Hybrid of the evening. Maybe this wind will lay down and if the rain didnt change the pattern might get to fish some more before the kids go back to school
Pics from the day and evening. The rain just went to the east of me but Kind of looked like a funnel wanted to start?
