I'm work at Mack's Discount Tackle today.

I've just gotten word Brett Harris of Tyler, caught a 14 pound 3 ounce Largemouth Bass this morning at about 10:30 CDT. The TP&W SAL folks are on their way to pick it up. It was weighed on legal scales at a nearby BBQ stand, and is about 26"-27" in length.

Brett caught this SAL on a Reaction Strike Poseion 6" Slow Fall swimbait that he got here at Mack's.

Not only is this fish a SAL but it is also a waterbody record for Tyler State Park, and the largest bass ever caught in Smith County. The previous record was caught in March of 2000, and weight about 13 and a third quarter pounds.

That is probably not the biggest fish swimming around in that lake. They get a fresh supply of trout every year to keep em growing!

Is this the same tyler that has the old and new lake? If so I didn't realize they put trout in there.

Lake Tyler is not the same as Tyler State Park. Tyler State Park contains a 67 acre lake that is a couple of miles north of I-20 just off HWY 17 14 on the west side of 17 14.

Lake Tyler is on the other side of the City of Tyler.

No it isn't RR188. This is a very small lake (64 acres) that is probably about to be pounded.

I feel sorry for the fish in that lake. They are about to be pounded!!!

On no, the bass in Tyler State Park would never eat any of those sweet, juicy, little rainbows. laugh

If TP&W would just stock about a quarter of a million trout in Lake Fork during the winter then, he, he, he things up there would get interesting....

Ohhhh, you were serious, I thought Buda was the first one to catch the mistake.

That little ol' bitty lake turned that fish out! Dang!

You know what, I would NOT bet against a 20 pounder coming out of some small lake here in Texas that is stocked two, or three times a year with trout producing a 20 pounder. That's the formula that's work out in California.
