Caught this 18in bass out at Palos Verdes today. Scale read right on 3lbs (non-digital) which is about a quarter pound under paper weight. Maybe thats why he hammered the baby brush hog!! +1 for using baby brush hogs, my favorite plastic worm.

Yes,except for the winter trout stocking Bethany is catch and release for other species. I was there one evening and an Allen police officer was walking around saying that they had a report that someone was keeping fish and reminding that is catch and release so I guess they are pretty serious about it. Either that or it was a slow crime day and he was bored.

Even if it wasnt true with all the chemicals that get put in there and the fact that that used to be a shooting range and theres probably lead in the water... I wouldnt eat those fish

Slow go this morning with a few srikes on the Lefty Deceiver. Observed active Bass chasing baitfish in the shallows. Was having a tough go getting them to strike, let alone hooking one. Finally managed one Bass on that "last cast"! Today's Pictures.

The DFF fished Bethany Lakes today. We caught lots of big bass on a variety of different flies. The big ones were in the shade in the shallows feeding.

Fished Bethany Lakes this morning. Bite was slow but did manage two Bass and two Sunfish on a White Grasshopper! Fish tended to be in the shallows today as well. Today's Pictures.

Tied a Bead Head Olive Wooley Bugger this morning; caught a Bass, and then lost the fishing fly. Tied more Wooley Buggers to replace the lost one, and then returned to Bethany Lakes after the rain passed this evening. Caught three Bass and a Sunfish. But, missed a lot more. Pictures from this AM. Pictures from this PM.

Nice Bass. Some of those ponds can be a gold mine for fish.

I've got to make the trip there this week. Looks like you are coming from a distance so let me give you a few hints. Don't even bother with the skinny portion of the pond. Start on the bank just to the left of the big fishing pier and work your way around the bank clockwise. There is sunken brush in the first corner you come to as you work your way clockwise that the bass relate to. Then the drain half way down holds bass and finally the two little trees that are growing out of the water a few feet off the bank on the far side of the lake. These are the hot spots. I've had the best luck on spinnerbaits, buzz baits, and jerkbaits! They will take a worm but moving bait seems to work best! Good luck!!

I am so disgusted right now I can't even see straight. I just watched a guy that I pointed out my hot spots at a community pond called Palos Verdes to walk off with a bag with five large mouth bass in it. This is the pond that I taught my son to fish at not to mention my favorite spot to practice at and some [censored] just gutted it. I feel like I have been raped and now totally understand why so many fisherman are tight lipped about there fishing holes. I know this isn't very Christian of me but I hope that guy whoever he is chokes on one of those fish!

Those city ponds get hit hard by people taking fish out. I wish people had more respect for community holes...but unfortunately it doesn't work like that.

That's so sad. I fish at a community lake at a park near my home and two idiots in a kayak showed me a stringer of LMB when i asked them if they had any luck a couple weeks ago. I just had to laugh and told them i had a couple cans of friskies buffet they could have that would taste just as good, if they would just let them go.
