Stopped by Archgate Park in Plano this evening. Caught a Bluegill and lost a Bass while landing near shore. Promising location but fishing from the bank is challenging as the brush is much higher since our last visit. Click-on link for pictures.

Had a go at Bethany Lakes this afternoon. Caught 6 Sunfish on a fishing fly. Too hot for the Bass to strike but did see a few lurking near the banks. Click-on link for pictures.

Took the opportunity to scout out a few areas around Lake Lavon this morning. Overall fishing seemed slow but did notice some action by Highland Park - Shad by the Boat Ramp and a Gaspergou (Drum) caught on a Nightcrawler. Click-on link for pictures.

I was going to head to the Dam in Denison, but my truck does not have a/c and there is only one window that will roll down, so I decided to keep it in Plano.
The pond at Archgate Park does look promising, but the bank needs to see the sharp side of a sling blade. It was difficult to cast, so I decided to head to the pond behind Davis Library. There was not a place to park, so I went to Bethany Lakes in Allen.
I hit the big pond and got several hits, but did not land anything. I did happen to see a couple kids catch a nice little bass that could have been called a keeper depending upon how hungry one is.
The next time, I am going to hit the smaller pond, as there do not seem to be as many ducks.
Still, it was a fun way to stand in 100 degree weather. Of course I am going to do it again.

Been hitting Lavon lately for a change of pace. Nothing big to report but can say Highland Park has Shad by the boat ramp. Did fish for a little bit, caught several fish, and saw a few others bring some in. Click-on link for pictures.

Good stuff Knot at Work. Been slow in hitting the ponds lately. May try one of the local ponds this weekend - early AM or late PM. Just too hot to hit them midday.

Caught a few Shad at Highland Park on Lake Lavon. Opted to use the Shad for juglining instead of bankfishing. Windy afternoon seemed to help with the Shad schooling near the boat ramp. Juglining was a bust, save for a Gar. Still good to know the Shad are still there. Click-on link for pictures.

Checked out Celebration Park's East Pond for Catfish. Caught 12 Catfish. One of which went 20" in size. Not bad for a small community pond. Click-on link for pictures.

Checked out Bratonia Park at Lake Lavon. No luck but had several strikes. Just could not hook-up; need to sharpen the hooks better next time. Picture taken just off the Boat Ramp.

catfish34 - agree water looks funny and it is a good place to take kids. if you took pictures, email us at coaf.weblog@live.com; will post on the COAF Leader Board site. FYI: Fished Bethany Ridge Park in Allen and caught a couple Bluegill flyfishing. Also, fished for Catfish using Bread for bait, had a few strikes but no hookups. Click-on link for pictures.

FYI: Was hoping yesterday to find a few "Bruisers" like the Catfish at Celebration. No luck yesterday at Bethany Ridge Park but do know they are out there. Decided to post an article about fishing with bread to remind me that the "Bruisers" are out there. All the Catfish were caught in community lakes. Check it out some time: "Fishing With Bread".
