What would be the best fishfinder to use in Galveston bay looking for trout? There are so many and I can't make up my mind. I also fish lake Conroe so is there one that can be used for both places? I do not have a fortune to spend on it. Is it possible to use a freshwater transducer in shallow saltwater? Thanks
i bought a humminbird for 119.99 at bass pro and haven't had a problem yet. i have bought the high priced ones and they last the same as the cheaper one's, wear and tear and pounding of the waves screws all electronics up on the water
the humminbird came with a transducer, i have tried most all the other fish finders and this one has been the best for my money. i wouldnt buy a fish finder with a build in gps casue if one goes out then you are really screwed. buy them seprete. thanks
Get yourself a unit that has a GPS and Fish finding combined. Hummingbird has some great unit to look at. Bass Pro was running a special on 595 with a $25.00 gift card with purchase. Also look at unit that have a dual cone or better....

I second the GPS fish finder combo. Also if you can get a Navionics chip with it that would be great. I haven't been on on a guide or tourney boat at the coast yet, that hasn't had a GPS/depth finder combo mounted on it.
