A buddy and I decided to try one of my early favorite Crappie haunts today. It didn't take long to find some fish and it was pretty steady. We kept 17 keepers and let another 10-15 get away.
We were fishing under button willows on a cut bank 1-2' deep.
Nothing over 2#'s but all were between 1#-1.34#. Real nice fish. All but 3 were males. Best male weighed 1.34#.
I'm scratched up and the boat is full of limbes but it was a fun afternoon!
We caught everything on Rocky Top jigs in Black/Chart, Black/Pink and Blaze Orange. Water was muddy and 64-65 degrees.
I'm hesitant to share exact locations because I have guide trips next weekend and it just will not take the pressure.

Gates are still open so I don't think they are moved in good yet. This area has deep cut banks close to deep water. I could not catch a fish on a shallow flat.

These fish are very hard to reach and harder to get out. My buddy landed 1 fish and I had 12 in the boat before he figured it out. He could hang them but he couldn't set the hook with his hand and get them out. The rod was stuck through limbs and you had to jerk the line to set the hook. He would jerk the rod and get the pole and line tangled up in the bushes. It was pretty comical to watch!

Paul and I pulled a Joe today. We hung 20 and only landed 10! It takes a 10' pole to reach them but once you hang one, it takes a 6' pole to get him out.....
I tried using braid today. That was a mistake! That stuff got wrapped around 40 limbs before you could get a jig in the water.
