If I were land locked and going to be down there, I would be hitting the jetties. If you know what a lemon rig is, use it with live shrimp. If not, tie a 3 way swivel on....tie about 3ft leader and hook off one empty eye....tie another 3 ft leader on the other empty eye....tie one of those artificial lemon juice bottles on to the end of this leader. Be sure to dump out all of the lemon juice, normally I add a little water in the lemon bottle to add a touch of weight.
If you don't want to use this rig, just use a typical popping cork with as much leader as you are comfortable with.
Another rig you might want to use is the fish finder rig, basically a carolina rig except you use an egg weight. With this rig, find the freshest Menhaden you can at the local bait shops. Port A outfitters normally has the freshest. Look at the bait to make sure it is still shiny. I normally cut them in half and use them.
Those rigs should allow you to catch Reds (fish finder rig), Trout, Sheepshead, Black Drum, and Mangrove Snapper.
