Went to Bethany Lakes today and caught a 5" Bluegill using a small fishing fly. Also, looks like the Lower Pond at Bethany Lakes is being worked on, may be fishable later in the year. Today's Pictures

fshng84, do you know why that lower pond was drained in the first place?
Just curious.

Im not fshng84. But from what ive seen it was from erosion beside the dam. That caused it to drain. So if they fix that up again and restock it then it might be good for fishin. But most of the fish were taken out because they couldnt live in an empty pond. And boy did i see some big ones taken out.

HotSauce_AWC, not certain why the pond was drained; did see the erosion issue that marked131 mentioned. Should make for better fishing in the future.

Checked out the Trout Derby in McKinney this morning. Cold temps but a lot of action.... Looked like the bait of choice was Powerbait in Chartreuse and Orange with a few caught on Salmon Eggs as well as Corn! Today's Pictures

Went to Town Lake about 1230ish... I caught 5 trout in 15 minutes using the Bass Pro Shops® XPS® Lazer Eye™ Micro Spin. The trick was to cast it out into the middle and let it sink to the the bottom and then reel it in slow but steady Here is a picture of the lure I was using Note: This post is not sponsored by BPS Tight Lines

I am new on here and moved to Texas recently from Iowa. Was surprised to hear there are trout down here. Not familiar with any lakes or ponds although i have been searching the web. I live in Richardson and would love to find somewhere to get my line wet. I am a bank fisherman, for now anyway. Any help would be appreciated.

They are out there.... Fished Towne Lake this morning. Action was hot. Caught one using Corn and four using lures! Conducted an impromptu Field Test, switching lures frequently. End result: Silver bladed spinners were getting more strikes than gold. However, we did not have a Chartreuse Roostertail - one fisherman was catching Trout on every cast! Today's Pictures

McKinney was indeed hot today. Tackle prove to be a factor.
Had a buddy using 6 pound mono vs my 4 pound p-line fluro (2-12). We switched poles and lures colors and used the same colors also, superdupers in gold, silver, and most caught on the white trout color.

was out there this morning and limited out in under 5 minutes. all were excellent eating size. all caught on a chart/orange spotted 1/16 rooster tail. turns out, mr crappie hi vis green mono has no effect on the trout. if anything it might of provoked more strikes
