Was fishing down below Kaw dam in Okla. with surf rods fishing for flatheads. I reeled in my surf rod to put on fresh bait only to find that my hook had somehow hooked inside a slip sinker hole and there was a line going thru it also. Thought about just throwing the line in, but decided i would get the trash out of the area, so I started pulling in the broken line by hand. To everyones surprise, that on the bottom of that broken line was an 18 1/2 lb. stripper. And that was the only fish i caught for the whole weekend. Now that was the very first and also the last stripper I have ever caught.

I foul hooked a big shad on a spoon a few months ago. I thought I had a sand bass on but after a second or two it was dragging across the top of the water and the fight stopped. About 40 feet from landing it a hybrid blew up on it and almost yanked the rod out of my hand. I guess technically I caught the hybrid on live bait.

I caught a bag of spent bullet casings once under the I30 bridge on Ray Hubbard. Sealed in a ziplock with a bunch of rocks.
Also caught my HS princile in the mouth one time. Tried to throw him back, but he was hooked good and had a life jacket on. lol

Craziest thing I ever have caught was a Christmas Tree Ornemant. Someone had apparently been sinking some old trees to make brushpiles, and whoevers tree it was had missed one wooden santa. Jig hook was through the rope loop that it hangs on the tree with.

Other random things

-Multiple broken lines
-Some fish in a very small pond that looked like a bass, a perch, and vin diesel had mated. Body of a perch, color of a bass, and a big scaless area on top of its head.
-Person... fishing 5 people to a two person boat is not a good idea

Back when the hydrilla was taking over east texas lakes, i was trying to burn a ratltrap over the top of a nasty patch of the stuff. Well i ended up getting a little backlash and knew getting that lure back was going to be fun. That hydrilla was so thick.

Well after about two minutes of yanking and lifting through the hydrilla i get the lure back, and a 2 pound bass.

Caught a bra in New Jersey while fluke(flounder) fishing. Caught a Great Horned Owl in Louisiana while night fishing with a Jitterbug, totally by accident. Who in the heck would ever want to tangle with one of dem birds on purpose!

Caught a 5000c and graphite rod on Fork.
Bridge bird (blue herring) on Fork at nite.
Buzzard on a red rattle trap (buzzards can swim but not very well)
Alligator on a jig on Richland Chambers (thought it was dead till it swam off)
My dad was a little wild with his casting (would not look before he cast) he caught my aunt in the shoulder with a fly.
my brother in law in the lip with a rattel trap.
took my hat off with a slab (blamed me for the backlash)
also lost 9 rod and reels on fork one february when i sunk my boat (lost everything)

night fishing on cypress with a jig got a bite that felt really good and rared back and set the hook on what felt like a really good bass. it swam around the boat about twice and i couldnt see it but when i swung it in the boat this bass turned out to be a 5 foot water moccasin. so i cut the line at my reel while this thing is slithering around in my consol and i didnt want to touch the snake so i grabbed my line and whipped it outta the boat. scared the snot outta me. i called it a night after that. lol

Not something I caught, but a good story:
When I was in high school in Bangs, a guy who was a year older than me lost his senior ring in Lake Brownwood. Don't remember if he was water-skiing or just swimming. Sometime later, (don't remember how long but I think it was at least several months) a guy catches a big catfish, and while cleaning it finds the senior ring in the cat's stomach. Since it had Bangs High on it and the guy's first name, it was pretty easy to locate the kid who lost it. The Brownwood Bulletin ran a story and picture. (it was my junior year, 1985, so I doubt there's anything on the web about it, but it's an amazing story)

I asked him, "I thought you were throwing a texas rig?" being that there was a spinnerbait stuck in the side of its lip. Sure enough, he was using a Texas rigged worm, and caught the fish that had just broke me off. Took the spinnerbait out of the fishes mouth, tied it back on and caught about a dozen more on it. One in a million deal for sure.

HA HA! That's awesome!

Last year when Grapevine was flooded I was fishing with a buddy on the southeast side of Silverlake Marina. He was fishing a purple fleck worm wacky style when it go hung up in some brush..We pulled the boat over and tried to yank it loose underwater but it broke the line....

2 months later I was throwing a TNT Limit Gitter going after some sandies and caught his worm!! I gave it back to him and he couldn't believe i got it! pretty funny...

About five minutes later the bobber came by my boat just under the water, I reached over grabed it and the 3 lb catfish on it. Then I was down rigging the same day and hooked a big stick look behind the boat tried to shake it lose and it would not come lose, so I reeled it in and noticed it was a bait caster with a 7 ft rod barley used. It cleaned up nice and now is being used. That was a great day.

Wouldn't have been a Falcon Lowrider w/ Quantum Tour Edition Reel would it? I have two of them missing in different lakes.

strangest thing I've ever done is hooked 2 5+ pounders on the same cast (unfortunately both got off). I hooked one, lost it, then another immediately hit my lure.

I've had smaller bass fighting the hooked fish for the bait and ended up catching 2 before, but this just flat out sucked.

My dad has broken a fish off while night fishing with a crankbait, then 2 casts later caught the bass with his crankbait across both sides of its mouth with almost no way to get another bait in there, but somehow it did. That's one of the weirdest things I've seen bass fishing.

Last weekend fishing Lake Fork, my son tossed a 4in tube jig up on some grass and a bullfrog jumped on it. This happened several times with the same frog. He changed lures to a small crappie jig and the frog took it. He landed his bullfrog, took pics and released it. Stretched out it was 10 inches long.

I've got a few in no particular order:

1. Freshwater clam on a T Rigged worm in a neighborhood pond.

2. A brass door knob at Ray Hubbard while trolling for hybrids.

3. A seagull on a clear tiny torpedo while fishing for schooling sandies at Lewisville.

4. A water moccasin right on the tip of his tail with a Little George.

5. A huge gizzard shad on a 3/8 oz spinnerbait.

6. A bass at lake Winnsboro that still had a black and blue jig sticking out of it's face.

7. A HUGE softshell turtle on a black and blue baby brush hog.
