I have a decent bait caster I can give up. Its in good condition. Do you know a way to get it from Austin out to you? Ive been sitting on it a while so holding it for this cause isn't a problem.
I also have some Reel Magic type stuff I can toss in to revive some older line.

Well the only thing about mailing it, is its on a rod. Sorry I forgot to mention that before. This is a complete combo w/o any line on it. Do you know anyone that would be coming to Austin any time soon? My g/f's parents live in Bryan and will be out here next weekend. I could send it back that far with them.

Mr Walter's, chokes me up that you and your friend's would take the time to do this. As a father of a special need's 14 year old son (classic autism), it's not just a great thing for the young'uns. I can assure you the parent's try to hold it in when these event's happen. One of the few time's we're allowed some sense of "normality" in our lives. I'm very involved in these sort of thing's for special need's children in my area. I'm at the very beginning of restoring a jon boat and gearing up to try and take my boy fishing for the first time, so I have no equipment to offer you. What I can do is offer to be a collection point in West Texas (Taylor county.) If there is a trust issue that I'd scavenge off equipment, I could try and arrange with a local church of your choosing as a drop off point, and would personaly deliver the item's with a detailed and signed inventory list, to you or your group at my own expence. The timing of this is important though. Wife and I rotate sleep on a three hour schedule to care for him, numerous hospital appointment's and therapy 3 times a week limit the date's I can deliver. If you wish to do this, please PM me (or post here) with the specific's (no later than date and delivery location/s) and I'll see what I can do. Again, thank you and your's very much for what you do!!!

The drop off and pick up I am not concerned about. Anything I/We can do to help would be a blessing. Just let me know when is good for you, and I will make sure that you have everything you need to provide an awesome time on the water for you and you son (I will even let you borrow my little two man pond hopper).

In the past we have done two camps a year (April/October. UNfortunatley, we will only do the October Special camp this year, due to a housing cost increase for the special folks. I have a meeting on May 8 with another group (foster home for abandoned and neglected children), we will be setting a date for this event (probably in June).
Let me get everything in that has been ordered, and then make a list of other items we may need. Hopefully, we will have everything, but if not, I will let you know.
Blessings,
Donny

I just browsed this thread and all I can say is God Bless all of you! What a great thing to do! Bob, It had been a sticky down in OT for a good while and the last post had been a few weeks so I wanted to get it up here so other folks could see it and maybe help out. I agree, great job they are doing.

When and where do you hold this event? I have a nephew who is DS and I gave him for his '05 Christmas present the opprotunity to be my partner for the '06 Tournament season and membership in my bass club. He was so excited that we had to go to town right after Christmas to get him some gear. His name is Shane and he is now 34 years old. When he was born he had 7 holes in his heart, he was not expected to live past the age of 17. He was 5 y.o. when he had open heart surgery to repair the holes and install his pace maker. I have not ever treated Shane any differently from any of my other nephews, they just require you to pay better attention. Shane is a fast learner and picked right up on fishing soft plastics. Our first tourney that next season was at McGee Creek, OK. and in the first thirty minutes after launching he boated a nice 3.5 lber which fell in the slot. You know how hard it was for me to tell him we couldn't put that fish in the livewell? Once I explained the lake rules he was good with it and I did get his picture with that fish. He also participates in the special olympics in bowling. He is flying down from Amarillo area to go with me to Lake Nacona for a tournament with my old bass club the last weekend of May. Just seen your post and wanted to commend ETCBA for a very worth while cause.

I did not know what happened to this thread (accidentaly stumpbled across it).
We work with several different groups, we do not actually "recruit" the participants, but rather host fishing trips for organizations that have folks ready to go fishing.

You were sent an alert as well as there was a pointer on the original post showing it was sent here. Maybe the recent server changes messed things up a bit. Thanks

Donny, fax me a non profit donation request form to 903-569-1463. It can be hand written or typed, just put the info for what the donation request is for, so I can send to corporate. I'll hook you up with a couple of big boxes of Yamamoto products, for such a great cause. I'll get them together, and give you a holler when they are ready. Maybe when you are up this way, you can swing by the store and pick them up.

We are currently working on a deal to get rod and reel combos with the funds that have been raised through the TFF OT quiet game. Thank you all for your support!
