Does it matter what type of hose I put on the inside of my tank (the fuel pick-up hose)?

I was taking out the gas gauge unit yesterday, which is part of the same unit for the pick-up hose, and the hose snapped in two. It was a hard plastic hose, but I can't find one like it anywhere. All I can come up with is regular rubber fuel hoses.

Will rubber work or will it break down, since it's buried in gas all day?

Thanks, John

A rubber fuel line is designed for fuel. It should be ok submerged. A standard hose is not designed to be used for fuel.

I would not use a rubber anything inside the gas tank. Just me because I'm not sure but the ethanol would eat through regular rubber.

yes it's on a boat.

And It says on the side it's a grade of rubber designed for fuel, but I'm thinking that's just the inside of the hose.
I'm not sure about being submerged in the tank.

Anybody know where I can get some half inch plastic tube?

1/2in. outside diameter
3/8in. inside diameter
thanks

Depending on your tank but you can buy pre made fuel pick up assemblies. What is the length of your pick up and what is the thread size of the fitting?

Look for alcohol resistant fuel hose.
