Seeing that rod and reel that TXfishes posted really takes me back. That rod and reel were state of the art back then and have alot of memories. Probably fished from a leaky wooden or aluminum boat. No trolling motor just a sculling paddle or oars. Were out for the fun but also for dinner. Takes me back to when I was little and fished with my Grandpa. He'd cast and have the fly land on a lilly pad. A flick of the wrist and the fly would hop off and be fast to a fish. I'd try that and I'd be fast to the pad, or his neck or hook his favorite hat and put it in the lake. Wow, Memories. Not worth alot of money but that tackle is priceless. Terry

Yeah sounds like awesome memories. I've read the history of warmwater fly fishing here in the south, and how after spinning gear was invented, it went by the wayside. Its too bad.

I guess I'm part of the next generation of warmwater fly fishers, but still really enjoy putting that popper in a hole in the pads, and the anticipation of a smashing hit by a bass!
