I have an 06' dodge 2500 quad cab 4x4, stock everything with the hemi gasoline engine. P.O.S. on gas mileage. 10.5 everyday use mix of highway and city and pulling a basscat cougar I get 8-8.5, all this is going 70-72 max. It has wonderful power and acceleration (and yet that doesn't justify it) but the mileage sucks and it cost $110 to fill it up this morning. I think I would be better off if I could just drive my boat to the lake by itself because my optimax gas mileage is not much different. Its sad and I hate paying it, but the good thing is the trucks payed for and more importantly isn't falling apart from the beating it takes with me driving it hard everyday like my GMC was. If I didn't have to have a pickup I would be out of it and into a reasonable suv in a second!!

For the people calling people out, I think they are getting higher fuel miliage #'s because they are reading their
lie-o-meter. Pulling my 20' wellcraft from florida to texas my lie-o-meter was reading 15mpg but i know better than that!!

You are right inline with what I got when I towed with an 04.5 Cummins. My 04.5 Duramax got slightly better, but not much, it was chipped and piped. I've owned a couple of other trucks on this list above and I didn't get the mileage they are claiming either.

Currently I have an 05 Dodge 1500

Diesel or Gas? Gas
Size of Engine? 5.7L Hemi
Type of Transmission? Auto
Rear End Ratio? 3.92
2WD or 4WD? 2WD
Average MPG? 17.7
MPG while towing? 12.1

The Hemi and 3.92 is a freakin towing machine. I hate this truck but it can freakin pull. Way better than my 01 Z71 and 5.3L with 3.73's.
