Where to put transducer? Going with a thru-hull. How much of an angle can it be mounted without messing up the capabilities of it?

Lightly sand the area in the center of the hull between the two front scuppers.

Mix a good epoxy preferably clear and gob it on. Lay the transducer in the epoxy and press down making sure no bubbles are underneath.

Done.

Scuppers???? What are these...just bought my first kayak. Mine has what I think to be is a U shaped tunnel down the middle...about 2 inches wide. Will this throw off my FF?

If you have a humminbird and don't mind spending the extra $79 to get it, I'd recommend getting the plastic thruogh hull transducer they make. It'll fit in most scupper holes and is threaded so you can tighten it down. I like being able to accurately read the water temperature, plus mounting your transducer using goop or epoxy inside your hull only works for a short time and comes loose. I had to do mine 5 different times last year, until I gave up and rigged up something near my rudder. I've got a new yak now and the through hull transducer works perfect.

Additionally, if you have a brand new Hummingbird, they will swap out your transducer for $20.
