I use American Rodsmiths, David Fritts model. Super soft so the trap does not rip out of their mouth

Since you asked "what's the BEST out there", I would have to say the Megabass 610 Shiryu "Purple Dragon" is the "best" I know of.

Might want to look a shimano crucial m-mh. the one I use is a m and it is great for traps!! glad to see someone else likes them too. i have a 6'10" MH. i dont think it has to say rat-l-trap rod on the side of it to be able to cast lures and catch fish. shimano rods and reels are good stuff

Falcon has a couple of glass rods I like for traps. 7' Cranker, m, works great. Also they have a 6'6" MH glass rod and thats what i use now.

Gloomis 906 model. Good bend to absorb the shock but enough butt to rip the traps out of the grass. It helped me on Sandlin greatly this weekend.

American Eagle Rods has three composite crankbait rods with a more parabolic action. My preference is the 6'6" for Traps. There is a 7'0" and a 7'6" as well. The way these rods load up when you cast makes for really good distance too. I land more crankbait fish in general with this type rod. http://www.americaneaglerods.com

I guess I'll be different here. I want a sensitive rod, and a crankbait rod makes it tougher to rip the trap out of grass.
I prefer a medium power, fast action graphite rod.
Any medium action graphite rod should work.
you need that sensitivity so you don't rip when it's a fish and so you do when it's not.

Good point. Ripping traps out of grass is a different animal. Better recovery (tensile strength), a better backbone with a faster tip and graphite or a composite for sure.

I prefer a slower action and use braid to help with both the sensitivity and the ability to rip it through grass. So I prefer either a glass composite or a glass type action.
The rods I like are the:
CLC-4-17 Falcon (which is heavy when compared to other rods but the action is right) Loomis 903 (which is 7'6" but the handle is about 1" shorter than I would like it to be) Powell 754cb glass (this seems to be a perfect blend of the 2 and I prefer the no foregrip myself)
As you can tell I also like a longer rod for traps so you can really cover some water. If you are fishing them around docks and in tighter quarters then I would want a shorter rod than the ones mentioned.

the first CLC-4-17 were the best I thought. Ever since they replaced it with the Cara Reaction series I have been disapponted. Just cant seem to throw the big CB's and Traps with it like I can the old Lowriders.
