Which part of the lake will you be fishing? I usually put in at the ramp in Kingsland at the Lion's Club. From there I either start fishin the docks that start over by the golf course or just start across from the ramp. I use either a texas or shakey head rigged strikeking worm in a watermelon color. They work really well for me, always catch good numbers. Shad colored cranks have also produced. I've also caught a few on a black/blue 1/2 oz buzz bait in the morning. When we want a break from the largemouth, we troll for whites using rooster tails, jointed cranks, and small rattle traps, all of which produce lots of fish. I hear that they are in the process or finished filling the lake back up, so I'm not real sure where the fish will be or how active them will be, should be interesting. Some say that they will revert back to their traditional patterns, so you might have lots of luck. I'll be there the 15th and stay for about a week for my yearly trip. Lemme know how ur trip turns out. Gook luck and good fishin!

The lake is up, the trash is not bad at all. I was up on the Llano river part and caught 3 sandies, one on a rattle trap and the other two on some spinners.

Do yall have any tips for this lake. Bass and crappie. We will be there the 15-20 for Spring Break. We are staying at Longhorn Cabins on the Colorado side. Will be in a black/silver Skeeter. Only been there once and didn't do very good. Thanks

87 Cajun Fishin Machine, there will be 3 of us on the boat. I generally fish the llano, or a few coves by the Camp Champions area. Do you carry a VHF?

No VHF. I haven't fished the Llano River but will make my way up there after I hit the discharge and lighthouse area. I hear the river area is the place to be in the spring.

Here is my bug boat.

What you should have said is that your fishing partner is the one that catches all the fish. You only average about 1 or 2. You also forgot to mention that 8lb cats are good trolling rooster tails and snagging carp with a Texas rig = fun stuff! lol

Seriously, We just troll up and down the Llano for whites when we aren't attacking the docks on the Colorado arm. When you get tired of that you might try the Crappie under the bridge. And if all else fails, just boat on over to Storm's and get yourself a big ole juicy burger...

skeeteroneal - see my post in the crappie section.
you shouldnt need your boat for crappie. they spawn in the longhorn cabins canal. thats just one of many "creeks" that the crappie use this time of the year. good luck!
for bass, throw pumpkinseed strait finesse worms on 1/8oz jig heads under boat docks over deep water. skip those suckers all the way to the retaining wall if you can. the bass fishing was great last monday. most fish came on the outer edges of the docks in 12-18ft. shallow water docks 10ft and under typically dont hold many fish on LBJ.

WE WENT LAST SUNDAY AND MANAGED 4 KEEPER BASS THAT WENT ABOUT 12 LBS. NOT BAD CONSIDERING THE WATER JUST GETTING BACK UP, SHOULD BE BETTER IN THE COMING WEEKS. CAUGHT A LOT OF FISH THOUGH ON THE OUTER PART OR IN FRONT OF THE DOCKS, THEY MAY HAVE CAME FROM UNDER THE DOCKS BUT DIDN'T STRIKE THE BAITS UNTIL OUT IN FRONT. GOOD DAY OVERALL. OUT!!!!!!!!!!!

48-58 depending on where you are. Rivers are colder and the discharge is much warmer.

I'm glad to see this thread. I'm heading down to LBJ next weekend for four days and will fish at least three of the four days. I will post a detailed report when I get back. For me it seems like it is very hard to get a good, timely report for LBJ. Glad to see you guys taking care of that. I'll be staying on the Llano about a 1/2 mile past the first set of bouyies after the first bridge. Love it up there. Is the water still pretty clear? Saw a few pics on here just after they raised teh water back up and the water looked incredibly clear. Let me know if you guys have any more info. Thanks.

Yes, the water is crystal clear up there. Weather now 70's and windy so i dont think ill put the boat in the water. This weekend looks to be amazing weather. See ya out there.
