I am taking the canoe out tomorrow from hwy 16 to hwy 4 below PK. I have never fished this stretch before, except for trout near the 16 bridge. I would love to catch a small mouth or striper but would be happy just getting into any kind of fish. What kind of lures or techniques would you suggest because I won't have room for the whole tackle bag. I will have my fly rod and spinning rod with me.

If the stripers behave at all like they do below Texoma plan on getting deep with the fly. Deep and slow seems to be what most folks have been successful with.

Slow is for Texoma, if they are letting water out of PK you might twitch a shad pattern (clouser?) in the current otherwise a nice 6" strip and pause should work.

Take some clousers or wooly buggers and both floating and sinking lines.

Thanks that is what i was thinking - clousers - but didn't know if there were any special flies you guys use for smallmouth - I am embarassed to say I have never cought one - never really fished anywhere they were either! hopefully that will change this weekend!
