Do you prefer this section of this forum or is it the only kayak forum you are familiar with? If you are aware of the other kayaking forums why do you choose this one vs. all kayakin related forums like TKF. Is there something about this or other forums that could be developed to customize them to more closely meet the needs of the individuals?
Just curious.

I can't speak for everyone, but I think a lot of the folks who post here, post on TKF as well. It is a great kayak resource, but not as great for fishing reports. If I've got a question on rigging, there is no question where I'll post, but I won't be heading there to find out how the bite is. I say post both places!
But, what I'd really like is for the temps to come up and the wind to stop blowing so I can stop posting and get back to fishing.

The majority of the folks that frequent this board are located in North Texas. I lived in Dallas for a while and was introduced to TFF by a friend I fished with up there. I mainly post here to generate some action in this section of the forum. I mainly fish saltwater now, so TKF is more suited for me when it comes to my style of fishing. I just like to remind the folks around here what salt water fish caught from the yak look like.

I look at both sites, but find myself looking more at this one because it seems more localized to the North Texas area where I fish. It seems to me that TKF has more South Texas posters. I have found a lot of good info from the TKF site.

I like both sites but I post on TKF more. Many of the same names are on both boards, just like 2cool or surfmasters. The DFW forum on TKF has a pretty good group of folks who like to get together. I like the reports here and follow seasonal events like the sandbass run or bass spawn. If I have a kayak question, or a saltwater trip, its the pros (and amateurs ) at TKF I am asking.

I'm of course in CenTex, and I guess that I am just more familiar with this forum... plus it helps to get tips from the PB'ers on where the fish are in CenTex lakes... I post here because I like to fish more than I like to paddle!

I hit this site more, but I can only access this site at home because some of the ads play havoc with my computer at work (it doesn't like anything in motion). I'll check TKF a couple of times during the day at work, but in the evening I'll read this site at home. TFF is THE site for fishing info, TKF is THE site for Texas kayaking. IMO.

I've heard there are other kayaking forums out there besides TKF but I'm not familiar with them. I like TKF overall and I'm glad I finally figured out the chapters set up to get the DFW activities but I don't see too much activity on either board most of the time but see plenty of kayaks on Lake Worth, the Trinity and so forth so I wonder if most are unaware or unconcerned with this type of sharing. I too frequent both boards but wonder why we don't have the interest or activity of the salts down south.

I am only speculating, but I think that kayak fishing in the salt marshes is much more popular than in lakes. I have had mine out in some of the marshes in Galveston Bay, and I ran into other kayakers all day long. It is a natural there, there is alot of skinny water that is just very difficult to access by power boat. It is also a blast to take the yak out in the surf. I have really enjoyed bass fishing from my kayak. I can get around in the shallows easily, but I do not really cover as much water as a bass boat with a trolling motor. Some old timer kayakers say it makes you fish the area more thoroughly. Streams and rivers are also a natural for kayak fishing. I have seen a few folks out in these areas. The place I have not run into other kayakers is open, deep water lake fishing. I have been out into a few schools of sandies and hybrids, and really had a blast. I have been out fishing in deep water with TKF DFW guys a couple of times, I just have not really happened upon anyone doing it. The thing that has surprised me is how cool the bass boat and center console guys have been to me while I am fishing and paddling thru open water areas. I expected some to look down their nose at me, but have been met with nothing other than perfect etiquette so far. I hope I didnt just jinx myself right as the bass spawn is starting.

Plus, one look at the post/read ratio tells us that there are a whole lot more people reading than writing on any given topic, regardless of the forum. And not everyone with a kayak has a computer or is remotely interested in forums or knows that such a thing exists for that matter.
