Saturday's trip started with a phone call to Mike Thomas earlier in the week. I asked Mike what he was doing this weekend and his response was, 'get down here!' I figured it would just be Mike and I this weekend, but was surprised to find out we were actually fishing with Charlie Paradoski Saturday. Cool! This would be the first trip in many that I haven't fished out of my boat. It is nice to take a back seat every now and then.
Saturday morning rolls around early and we meet Charlie and Frank Bolbecker of LMC Marine at the harbor. Off we go to West Matty. First spot we stop is a nice little drain. Mike had caught fish here the day before and there was a lot of bait present. We made a wade and picked up 2 keeper trout and several smaller fish. Time to move on!
We then moved around the corner to another drain. It started off slow picking up a trout here and there, then the tide started moving in. Once the tide started moving in, the fish turned on! Reds, trout, and a few stray flounder were caught. We all had a good time and it was an enjoyable day on the water.
Fish were picked up on Strawberry/White and Morning Glory Norton Bull Minnows, Strawberry/White and 10W40 Bass Assassins, and a couple on a Corky.
Mike and I topped it off with Reds on the half shell and some jalapeno sausage!
