... Cold weather returns Thursday and Friday with the potential for a
second snow event in less than a week...

A cold front has entered North Texas... and will continue advancing
south through the region tonight. Daybreak temperatures will be in
the 30s and 40s... and will warm little during the day on Thursday.
A vigorous storm system will approach from the west... moving through
North Texas Thursday night into Friday.

Rain will develop Thursday morning... and persist throughout
the day. A few embedded thunderstorms will also be possible. A mix of
rain and snow is forecast Thursday afternoon through Friday morning
across the northern two-thirds of North Texas. A transition to all
snow is likely overnight. By Friday afternoon... the bulk of the
precipitation will have shifted east with a few linger showers
possible.

Some accumulation of snow will be possible as early as Thursday
afternoon... primarily on grassy and elevated surfaces. Temperatures
will fall to near or below freezing Thursday night... allowing for
more significant accumulations... including on bridges and
overpasses. At this time... total snowfall amounts are expected to be
generally less than one inch with the highest accumulations occurring
along and north of Interstate 20. There is the potential
for significant disruptions to travel Thursday night into Friday
morning as additional precipitation combines with the freezing of
residual moisture on roadways.

Harold Taft!!! Wow. That's going back a while...

Harold Taft was THE MAN. He was a very kind person and his knowledge on weather patterns was exponential. I used to sit in meteorologist society meetings with my dad as a kid and listen to him.

and he knew the weather from the old school.....my corns a burning it's gonna rain! lol......but he was alot closer if i remember right than these guys today with all the scientific tech,they have today,,,,lol notice i did'nt spell tech.out

you know since my accident i can tell when the weather is changing by my knee if it hurts i know its going to change if its stiff its cold but if it ok than its a good day

yeah, I cut off my thumb at work a few years back and I get a tingling sensation before storms or fronts now.

my knees are bad, not enough cartilage in the joints, so i feel it when cold fronts move in

Yep I have the same weather station in both of my knees that yall have since I wrecked my blazer a couple of years ago and both knees went thru the dash!

Already saw some sleet this AM

I will tell you exactly why this is happening. Two weeks ago I said "wife.. i am going fishing on the 8th" She said no you are not the kids are having a sleep over at our house and you are staying here..i put my foot down and said "no, this time I am really going no matter what." She kicked my butt and after I quit crying she said fine just go. Well, now I have to go. And that is why its going to snow and the wind will blow.

Zandt... and rains counties...

... Winter Storm Warning in effect until 6 am CST Friday...
... Snow Advisory no longer in effect...

The National Weather Service in Fort Worth has issued a Winter
Storm Warning... which is in effect until 6 am CST Friday. The
Snow Advisory is no longer in effect.

As an upper system moves across North Texas... heavier snow bands
will continue to develop across western North Texas. Snow will then
spread east into the metroplex this afternoon and into northeast
Texas this evening. Snow total amounts of 3 to 5 inches are
expected in an area running from Eastland County eastward across
the metroplex and on into the Sulphur Springs area. Near the Red
River up to six inches are possible. Snow will taper off in the
early morning hours in the west... to near sunrise central and
east.

A Winter Storm Warning means significant amounts of snow...
sleet... and ice are expected or occurring. This will make travel
very hazardous or impossible.

Well, this is only my second Texas winter, but I imagine that 5 inches of snow here would be like the end of the world...

Yeah, I better go to the grocery and buy enough milk and bread to last me 3 weeks...

Last I heard, it will warm up to the 60's this weekend. Anybody have experience in what this will do the fishing for this weekend. (late cold front like this, followed by another warm up).

Should I plan on the carps and buffs biting at all?

I wasn't fishing for carp/buff last year at this time, so I thought some of you might have experience?

Don't bait the area heavily and use a high attract bait like pineapple boilie. Depending on where you go try some white bread on a hair rig.

Spicy baits work good this time of year.

Yep, it's confirmed; Texans are a bunch of wienees! You call yourselves fishermen & then complain about a couple inches of snow. Come on up to Colorado with me this time of year and we'll go out and cut a hole in the pond so we can find the water!!! Now if your willing to do that on a day when it's -15 F, you have the right to really say you're a fishing addict.

Llindex, In defense of my fellow Texans...

I was born in Dallas...but I've lived all across the country, including CO, UT, WI, and MN...And I can deal with enough snow and cold for the vast majority of our state, hehehe.

I've been ice fishing in -17, and had a blast doing it.

cold dont bother me none, i'd rather fish when its cold, unless im fishin saltwater
