Has anyone been kayak fly fishing for reds and specs in the Estes Flats area? If so, has it been productive and can you get to the Aransas Bay side of Traylor easily? I'm thinking about heading there in April so any useful input would be appreciated.

I was there this past summer. Estes can be very productive with the right conditions. It tends to run deeper then the other flats in the bay so not as good for sight casting as say LHL. We mostly fished it with conventional tackle but to fly fish it, I would paddle upwind, drop a drift sock and cast to the sand pockets as you get in range. Easy paddle from Palm Harbor. The outside of Traylor shouldn't be a problem unless it's blowing.
