Among the local races going for election, there is Texas 22 nd Congressional district. Texas 22 nd is in dire need for a new leadership and new ideas. This leadership also needs to be pro-active, efficient and responsive. The country is seeking a candidate who identifies himself with the issues faced by the residents of Texas. A person who has stayed in Texas can only understand the day-to-day problems faced by the district and come up with a perfect solution.

Currently the problems faced by Texas 22 nd include the need for lower taxes, which otherwise add ample financial pressure on the families. The higher taxes affect the take home income of the families and make them forego a major chunk of their paycheck. This calls for proper fiscal management policies. Besides reducing the taxes, there is a need to check the wasteful spending on the part of the government which can instead be utilized in creating more jobs and stimulating the economy. The country is broken at the borders allowing illegal immigrants to enter, putting the national security under doubt. This need to be rectified through comprehensive immigration reforms rather than simple blanket amnesty.

The district of Texas 22 nd is dominated by Houston's heavily Republican western and southern suburbs, stretching from Sugar Land and Missouri City in the west and traveling eastward to portions of Pearland and Pasadena, all the way to the NASA Johnson Space Center, Clear Lake City, and Ellington Field. Among the Republicans contesting in the election for the district include the former Sugar Land Mayor and Councilman, Dean Hrbacek. Dean is a fourth-generation Texan who has lived in this district for quiet long. He has been credited with bringing about many positive changes in Sugar Land in the form of Tax cutting, bringing the University of Houston at Sugar Land, surface water transition, expansion of I-59 Town Square etc. among many others. The Republican candidate is attributed with many commendable achievements responsible for making Sugar land, a premier community in Texas.
