I got a big question. We are getting the boat ready for our up coming East Breaks trips during the summer, and next weekend weather depending we are taking our boat 40-50 miles outta Matty. I was wondering what exactly to expect. The water should be from 180 to 220 feet. We were guessing AJ's, Groupers, Makos, and Wahoo but is there going to be tuna cuz that is what we are really looking for. And if so where should we fish for them? Rigs, Wrecks, Rocks, or anywhere? We got some good numbers out there. I need to know as much as possible by next weekend so PLEASE PLEASE any info is awesome! And also trolling live, lures, or chunking, or jigging? Thanks so much guys.

40 miles out at the breaks... a steady chum line sometimes brings the blackfin up to feed.... this is what i have heard. they will probably be BIG blackfin if you get into them. 20 pounders+..... good drags are a must!

Floro leader a must for tuna usually, not regular mono. Try also, besides rocks and reefs and rigs, behind the shrimp boats if they are culling or have recently done so. Just after daylight is best odds though I have caught them at almost anytime. Watch for Kings, jacks etc though pretty early for Kings. Stealth approach best and cast right to back of boat. Live or dead bait best for the tuna. You may catch almost anything behind a tuna boat though. I only stay about 15-20 minutes if there is no bite and then move on. If they don't hit what you throw they are ptobably not there. I try to avoid sharks unless specificaly fishing for them as they drive off other species
