I just moved to Navasota and have been fishing Gibbons Creek for about 3 weeks now. I have caught most of my fish on a white bleeding spinnerbait with grub tail trailer. I have caught some on blue chrome ratltraps, as well as watermelon seed paddle tail worms texas rigged. about 1 week ago I went right before the front came in and caught 9 fish none were under 4lbs all were in about 2 feet of water biggest was close to 8 and had 2 around 7...I was fishing on the inlet side mostly I am going in the morning as well I will report after lunch

Intake: When you launch your boat and go out of the marker bouy's you will turn left about 10 o clock go straight towards the plant, you will come to a cove opening that has standing timber all around the inlet. Thats the intake if the wind is blowing fish the windy side of the cove (just something I have noticed)

Discharge: Launch your boat go out the marker bouy's to the right about 2 o clock go around the first point on the left and turn left you will see a deep cove there are usually boats there fishing right at the roped off area. YOu will also notice a dramitic water temp change usually about 6-9 degrees difference..

hope that helps if you ever plan on going out there let me know maybe I can meet up with you. I saw brett out there this weekend they were doing pretty well with white spinnerbaits I was fishing behind them catching the stragglers with a swimbait....

I went out today too - didn't see you Rich. Guess you were smart. We got our asses blown all over the lake. Left early. Terrible day.

Fished Gibbons from 1 to 6PM Sat. Cloud cover, mild winds(finally), temp 70s. Water stained (8"vis) to slightly muddy at creek arms. Pads are just starting to emerge. Hydrilla & water hyacinths beginning to recover. Nutria active. Boated about 15-18 decent LMs largest running about 2.5 - 3 lbs. All bit shallow in/close to avail cover. No clear pattern apparent....assorted plastics on drop shot, tx rig, Carolina as well as a couple more on spinner bait, each produced briefly.

A large rodent, nearly as large as a beaver but with long, rounded, scaly, ratlike tail; hind feet webbed; incisors orange-colored; female with mammae along each side of back, not on belly; upperparts reddish brown; the underfur dark slaty; tip of muzzle and chin white. External measurements of adults average: total length, 31-40 Inces; tail, 13-15 Inches; hind foot, 5-6 Inches. Total length may reach 4'. Weight, normally 15-25 Pounds.
Their natural food consists almost entirely of aquatic and semiaquatic vegetation, but when these animals live along the coast they also feed upon shellfish. Cattails, reeds, and sedges appear to be especially prized items of food. When established near gardens, they take cabbage readily; they are also fond of carrots and sweet potatoes.

There are no beavers at Gibbons to my knowledge. It was a nasty, large nutria. They started showing up at Gibbons in the late 90's and have never left or been killed off (too bad).

One thing to add, they get really pissed if you hook them with a spinnerbait. But, they sure pull good!

monarkman, they didn't cut off the discharge.

sealy, throw anything watermelon. white or chartreus spinnerbaits also. If you're wanting specifics, Lake Fort Tackle Magic Shad, 3.5" have been real hot.
