Today I lost the side imaging portion of the picture return. The side imaging no longer looks like a picture as it has, but now looks like the regular sonar picture, but on the 150 l/r side range.
The GPS and regular sonar portion seems to work correctly.
I have not yet looked into the possible problems, but just wondered if any other owners have seen anything like this. I cannot see any screen selection adjustment that would have caused it. I'm wondering if the transducer is bad. I'll call Hummingbird tomorrow!

I reset to factory defaults and everything is working perfectly again. I must have tinkered with the adjustments too much. This thing is great. I found a couple areas on Benbrook yesterday, I'll bet most don't know about. Lots of fish there, Still no takers though.

The only probelm I've had with a 997 SI is the depth (digital depth reading) would start going kind of nuts when in 10 feet of water or less.

I had the Sruface Clutter set to 1 (which is to get rid of all surface clutter). I think defualt is 5. Anyhow set to 1 the sensitivity goes so low on the first few feet of the sonar's reading that it can hardly pick up the bottom when in shallow water. Don't have the same proablem with Lowrance (Suface Clutter set to High). But watch out for that on the HB SI.

SO for me too, back to default.

I have two units sitting side by side and the depth readout was different. Didn't realize the one unit needed to be calibrated for the distance from the water line to the ttansducer. Made up the difference, they are almost exactly the same. The other thing is sometimes I can run both and they work fine, but sometimes the Lowrance gets weird. I just turn it off. I know there is an adjustment on the si for use with more than one unit transducer. SI works great.
Thanks for your comments.

Bob,

Ya "keel off set" needs to be set on all units if you want them to read the same digital depth readings.

I didn't realize you have mutiple units (with Lowrance and Humminbird). Ya, I get interference on the 200kHz from the Humminbird on both the Lowrance on the console (tranducer real close together on the transom) and on the Bow/TM unit alos. I see the interference mainly on the Lowrance units when over 12 to 15 feet.

For now I've turned off the Auto Sensitivity on the Lowrances and just set the Sensitivity to 78. When getting interference from the Humminbird's 200 kHz the Lowrances with Auto Sensitivity "ON" causes the Sensitivty to go up and down (from 100 to 50%) like a bouncing ball. Changing Ping speeds and Noise Reduction setting didn't do any good to fix the problem.

The only other option I've found is to turn Sonar "OFF" (setting) on the Humminbird as I move up front to the TM, but got tiried of that, so just going the manual Sensitivity on the Lowrances.

Hope you don't have that problem, some don't.
