Mortage- Paid in full Truck- Paid in full Cars- Paid in full Boat- Paid in full Furnishings- Paid in full Fishing tackle- Paid in full Guns and hunting- Paid in full Retirement plan- growing
My point. You might think you will have extra money, but inflation, hundreds of taxes and the UNKNOWN will take your planned extra money. The only sure things that will happen in your life are death and taxes. So fish and hunt as much as possible before you are horizontal. Pay off everything and only use credit cards that you plan on paying off each month. The old battle axe will appreciate having no debt when you die.
Example of UNKNOWN: True story I heard this morning from a friend.
Sends son down last weekend to fuel up boat and respool all reels. Takes off one week vacation this week so he can fish Deep Sea Roundup and Outboard Tournament this coming weekend.
Unknow to him: Son and his friends drank all the booze in his bar and forgot to take out trash at his coast house. Only one reel respooled. One of sons's friend let's flea infested dog sleep inside master bedroom. Must restock booze at local prices. Ice machine door left open all week. No ice and ice machine frozen up. Discovers fuel smell in boat night before DSR. Can't go out. Discovers that fuel tank has leak. Needs new 320 gallon fuel tank that was just filled up. Both batteries were stolen durning the week.
Wife wakes up sweating. Discovers the AC compressor unit outside is shot. Wife and family complaining about the heat and rain. Next morning, wife notices no water pressure. Discovers a water spout in front yard. Broken on his side of the meter. Discovers that daughter his 2100.00 worth of parking tickets at college. She can't enter her senior year until it's paid. As of today, his estimate on the fuel tank replacement (three weeks) 3700.00. AC unit 1300.00. Plumber 575.00. Replace booze and pest control. 750.00 Two new battery's 189.00 Parking tickets 2100.00 Trying to find 55 gallons drums to store fuel = priceless. It's only Tuesday and God knows what other unknow will happen on his vacation.
That's my fishing tip and life lesson for the day.

I just got back from my trip to Venice. Had a great time, great weather but the fish were hard to come by. We caught one Yellowfin and 4 blackfins. Also caught about a 35lb Dorado. Caught some large Rainbow runners also. Maybe 12lbs a piece, maybe more. A couple Cuda's one of which I caught on a OTI Komodo popper. On the second day, we found a school of Tuna's busting the surface on our way back in and I hooked into a nice one. I started to tighten the drag up on my Shimano Thunnus 16000 and the drag knob started turning with the spool and the reel went into full lockdown. It was gonna pull me in the water, but luckily the hook came out. I have had this reel about 1 1/2 yrs and maybe caught 20 fish on it, nothing over 30lbs. I called Shimano and they didn't really seen to care. The guy basically said oh well, sounds like you are going to send it in and pay for us to fix it. For 240.00 it should have lasted longer than this. I can back the drag off and the drag feel fine, but when you pull line out, the tightening knob goes with it and it tightens the drag all the way. Looks like a plastic piece is broken in the knob. May try to fix it myself. Just upset I lost a good fish on it. I know it is not top of the line, but it should hold up better than that. But is was a very fun trip, we got some meat, caught my first Mahi and we saw several whale sharks feeding in the blackfin schools on topwater. I will get some pics up later.

I don't know what kind of tuna YOU'RE eating, but if it's true you should probably stop and find some fresh stuff! yyyyuck!

You guys going on these trips are making me jealous. I think I got bit by some bug that gave me a bad case of wanting to tangle with a tuna or three.
