I have a 2006 Silverado, and want to upgrade the stereo system;

anyone have suggestions?

If after market is what you are looking for then to many to list. It is easier setting a spending limit then work backwards. I personally like Eclipse head units, Infinity Kappa componet speaker systems, JBL Amplifiers and Boston Acoustic subwoofers.

All of those subject to individual preference.

be carefull i did that to my 04 colorado and i lost the dore chime and the dash lights i went back to the place i got the kit from and they said i need a special wireing harness and it was 300$ i put the fatorey radio back and just put an rca adaptor on the front speakers and them ran my amp wires and subs

I was driving my sons 2001 honda accord, and its stereo is light years ahead of my gm stero, sorry to say; so i just wanting to have as good of stereo system as a 7 year old honda; go figure GM

You need this

to keep the door chimes/alarms. They were designed to run through your factory stero and this fixes the problem. I have a 07 Classic and I have been debating doing this and this is what I found.

well what good is that if you have on-star it says it doesent work so you might as well keep the factory radio you can still have a good quality sound system

talk to my buddy Jeff at advanced mobile installation, he can tell you what you need and can even come install upgrades at your place, you dont have to take it to him. he does excellent work and is priced right. his # is 214-477-6550. he can give you all the pro's and con's of changing your system. tell him wade sent you
