If you have the time and the extra gas money I'd head over to Welch Park at Sommerville. It's run by the city so it's rules are very lax. You can basically camp on the edge of the water if you want. For a fee-free bank fishing experience, try the spillway near Welch or fish the creek below the dam at highway 36.

There are supposed to be some decent bank spots for Lake Houston over on a branch on the eastern side but I live in NW houston and would rather drive away from town rather than through it.

Anyone know of any good ponds or body of water that are inside the belt.( i know there arent many) that might be a good place to try

I spoek with a guy this weekend fishing and he mtnioned a good bank fishing pond in Houston that is stocked with trout to feed the bass.... I cant recall the name but i do not theink it was ATom bass or I would of recalled that name. I think something like beloton I have no idea just Tom bass dont ring a bell.... Any help....

Burroughs Park is the name. I heard from a freind he has been catching nice black Bass in it. LMB. Alot in the four - six pound range. They have been stocking rainbow trout in which to me means they are feeding the bass!
