Sorry if this is long....I am new to the do it yourself wiring thing. I am installing an LCX28c beside my drivers console on a mount. I have an x85 in my dash that I don't really need to remove. The power wire from the 85 runs into a splice with an in line fuse. From there it goes into the boat and God knows where to from there (again...new to the do it yourself thing). Can I piggy back the power for the LCX onto the power wire that the 85 is hooked into or is my boat going to explode? I don't intend to use the two at the same time, but in the event that I do....I don't want any trouble. Thanks for any help...hopefully I can save about $300 by doing this myself.

It would be much better to run the LCX28 on a circuit of it's own. Run the inline fuse included with the unit to the fuse panel.

It would be better to have it on its own circuit but you can run both off one to save pulling more wire. Just make sure you tap into the power wire of the existing unit before the fuse. I have two units on my dash wired this way with no problems.
