When I start my 1999 Suburban the headlights are always on. I have tried everything I can think of to turn these off if I don't want them on but cannot figure it out. The green light on the dashboard is on all the time. I can switch to high beams and back but can't turn them off.

I never thought to much about this but I saw on another thread that people get ticked if you leave your headlights on when backing down a ramp and pulling out in the dark as they are trying to back in a the same time.

Thanks

It's your daytime running lights. There is a fuse under the hood if I remember correctly. To stop them at the ramp lightly apply the park brake.

Very good. I have only had this for 6 years. Don't use the parking brake much.

Thanks Dave!!!!

Fuse #15 should be your DRL's.

Trickster try this first ok.find the round knob that adjust your dash lites and push it in 4 times and see if they go off if they do the next time you cycle the ignition switch they will be back to normal.

okay what about the opposite problem. Indicator is on the dash, regular headlights work, fuse #15 DRL is good, but no daytime running lamps are lit.

Sounds like the bulbs are burnt out. Are the DRL's the same lights as the headlights? I don't know how far back they've used different lights for the DRL's.
